i try to only speak when i have something to contribute and to keep it short and to the point.

i sometimes find myself almost facilitating meetings in order to keep people on topic. mostly because i have got bored and want a ciggie.

all meetings should be no longer than 30 minutes and everyone should stand up!

yes, i have no problem speaking up. :)

i am so sick of attending meetings though. dull dull dull.

this is the main reason i'm wary of 'climbing' any higher in my profession. more money maybe, but less contact with kids, and i just know it would mean even more meaningless meetings.

Yeah, I can see the problems more senior people have in spending lots of times in meetings and having time for little else.

I used to speak up more than I do nowerdays.

Beware that the .... what is it ... the empty vessel makes the most noise ! or those who say the most often have the least to say .. etc ..

if it needs to be said i'll say it. i'm normally a temp or contract worker so i don't really need to worry too much about face-saving or anything like that and, contrary to what my posts on here may suggest, i'm pretty good at mollification.

Meetings bore me shitless. I'm busy most of the time and am of the belief that most work issues can be ironed out with an informal 10 minute chat. Bosses with too much time on their hands seem to want to stretch them out for ages with verbal diarrhoea so I always speak up in order to get to the point as quickly as possible. I'll only arrange a formal meeting if the person I'm meeting is a shifty twat of the highest order who may need to be reminded (using the minutes) of what they promised to do!
