Do you read something more 'intelligent' on public transport

I'm not too ashamed to be, well, middlebrow, and not too ashamed to be horrifically pseudy either!

I have to admit to feeling slightly low-brow when reading the Sun in the mornings on the tube. The tube ride is 15 minutes which gets me up to Bizarre and through the sport and it can then be deposited on the seat for another passenger. Usually its about the only thing I can handle at that time in the morning.

Any other paper and I'm not even close to finishing it and then have no time to do so for the rest of the day. I end up leaving books everywhere if I take them out with me.

Heh.

I got asked precisely that by Boston United supporters a few seasons ago when reading a book before a match at Hayes. Unfortunately, at the time I wasn't aware of the Bill Hicks routine otherwise I would surely have informed them that I was reading so as not to turn out like them.

To be fair, being able to identify what you were doing as reading represents a big leap forward for Boston fans. Credit where it's due.

I'll read whatever I'm reading at the time anyway, which could be anything from Church & Society in Late Medieval England to Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (:p). Though at the moment I've made myself swear I won't read anything unrelated to my course until I've got some of my assignments out of the way.

i just read whatever it is next on my reading pile. generally the books are middle brow but if it's intellectual or crappy i don't really care what people think.

Usually the Independent, but lately Robert Anton Wilson's 'Email To The Universe' or even that bloody book on translation theory that's been baffling me for months. Don't give a monkey's about Dan Brown readers' (all tube passengers') opinions. Baffle the bastards :p
