I fear I have to own up to having kept the bread in the fridge when we were in Croatia - my boy thought it very odd :o

normally I keep bread in the FREEZER, so there. :p

(is there a separate thread yet...... *wanders off*)

good idea if you have freezer space for it. bread doesn't take long to defrost, but does seem to go off very quickly if just left out on the side. so freezing it ensures none goes to waste!

i don't have freezer space for my bread, though.

For the record, I also prefer it rock hard.

banana's go off faster in the fridge, and should be kept separate from other fruit as they make the other fruit go off faster

bread goes stale faster in the fridge

other fruit last much longer if stored in the fridge (eg apples = 2 weeks longer), so if you're buying in bulk it's worth storing most of it in the fridge, and only keeping one or 2 pieces of each fruit in the fruit bowl, and replacing them as you use them.

Potatoes & onions = cool, dark place, but not the fridge (though there's no major problem with putting them in the fridge)

I've just got a job for this lot, so have spent the last week reading the latest research on it...

Nice one on the job.

I do know what the right answer is, was just checking if there was actually anyone that did keep nanas in the fridge :D

cheers... personally I reckon banana's are actually the spawn of satan, which is probably why they turn all the other fruit bad... the compost heaps really the best place for them IMO:)

not too keen on strawberries either, but they do serve a useful purpose in distracting people while I eat all the rasberries;)

NO. That's fucking weird. Usually keep them on a shelf away from any other fruit/veg as they can speed up things going off.

My housemates put potatoes and onions in the fridge. That is also fucking weird. And garlic. I've always kept those three in cupboards out of light.

Recently stopped putting tomatoes in the fridge, and it makes 'em nicer tbh. Never bother with eggs in the fridge any more, there's no advantage at all, and it just makes them slower to cook with, n uses up space. :hmm:

I don't generally eat much bread, and what bread I do eat is usually toasted, so I keep a sliced loaf in the freezer and toast as needed.

Me too.

Fridge fruits are berries, tomatoes, and melons. Perhaps grapes. Not bananas.
