google is my boyfriend: it's called 'sunset story' and it's not on the site in the op- probably because it's still showing on npr in the states. but i'm going to keep looking for it because just reading about it on amazon has filled me with the urge to watch it again.
 
Hoop Dreams is a fantastic documenatry though it's a whopping 3 hours long.

It follows a coupke iod boys trying to get basketball scholarships. Sounds riveting, I know but its very engaging

I've been after it for ages. I found a torrent that linked me to one of those shitty password sites so I left it alone. Can't even find it on dvd/

mrs shoes lived in that world in new york's nocturnal demi-monde for many years .

I'd recommend Party Monster as well to see the grimy end of the scene. Go for the documentary rather than the Macaukley Culkin film of the same name
