Hmmm, like I thought most people might actually like their jobs if it weren't for the other people they have to work with.
Maybe working in a nursery/ with kids would be better than an office for me.

I don't think many office workers would say they "like" their jobs!
Office work = boring, stressful, long hours, shitty managers, underpaid, etc, etc. The only good thing about office work is that you get to sit inside in the warm all day long.
Whenever you hear about people raving about how good/satisfying/rewarding their job is, it's more often than not something more "active", be that hairdressing, nursing, landscape gardening, bar tending, etc, etc - pretty much anything that doesn't primaily involve sitting at a desk for 8 hours a day.
I worked in the private sector for 6 years and hated every minute of it - stopped doing anything creative and started drinking myself to death in order to forget about it. Took redundancy about 10 years ago and moved into a public sector job for a considerable cut in pay but have a much better work/life balance - however this is always dependent on my colleagues. Working with decent people can make a crappy job bearable but I'll not stay where I'm unhappy anymore - life's too short!
I like the benefits and certain aspects of the office culture at my work, but can't honestly say I give a shit about the field I work in. This is not helpful for motivation. I'm also very short-tempered when it comes to certain other aspects of the office culture, e.g. painful worthiness, insultingly crap communication. While I like the people I actually work with, I don't have much to say to the people I share an office with and I'd imagine that suits them fine as while at work I am almost invariably in a shitty foul-tempered miasma.
None of this is really the job's fault - I started under a cloud and have never been able to engage in any real sense with the work. If things had been different and I hadn't had something much more painful and important going on when I started, I probably would enjoy myself here a lot more.
As a means to an end, my job's good. Not taxing, interesting or exciting, but in a nice, relaxed environment which allows me to pursue my other interests without any interference.
Now the honeymoon period is over i hate my job. But I've always hated my jobs. I always want more!! Bad managers are my problem. That and the fact I don't care about the field we work in - im just here for the cash.
