Do you like your flat / house?

I do like it but have been living under a building site since July.

We have our bedroom next to what is currently a living room. A new and large kitchen and small bathroom/wetroom.
Upstairs the attic has been converted into a light and airy room. Here we will have a new living room / dining room looking out onto a roof terrace.
In the kitchen, we will remove one of the windows and put in a blacony. CUrrently all we are waiting for is the stairs to arrive and the project is complete. THe builders were supposed to be ready before Xmas. Now we are looking first week of march. Promise to post photo's as soon as it is ready.

Do it. I keep meaning to start a home pics thread :hmm:

Possibly the things that piss me off most are:

The shitty storage and the wasted space due to shit architects
The electric cooker which only half works
The pointless (dribble) shower

Tell me about wasted space. I've got a bungalow sized block of concrete weirdness by our front door, which I reliably informed was an coal and heating store. On a 5th floor council block with central heating you'd have expected them to take it out by now - instead it houses a tiny combo boiler, located to leave awkward gaps all around, and plenty of weirdo pipes.

Inside another cupboard and we've a disused gas meter that would have taken 50ps, in another a hot water tank and in another some weird airing/venting system. It's good that we've lots of weird storage, but the space could be used so much better.

Ours is ex-local and the sloping ceilings and stupid layout never fails to irritate me. I suppose as it is rented I am less inclined to fix it though so will just make do with moaning about it and buying more plastic crates

I'm rapidly falling out of love with the whole boat thing.
I've been doing it for 12 years now and the novelty has well and truly worn off.

Since leaving home 20 years ago I've lived in a flat (14th floor), a shared house on a housing co-op and a boat. I've never had my own house or garden and I want them so much now that sometimes it makes me feel like crying.

I'll miss the lovely views and the being close to nature, but I won't miss toilets that have to be emptied, running out of water and lugging all my shopping over the lock and 5 minutes down the towpath.

Oh god I love my (rented) flat! I've been there for a year mid-April and still sometimes wander about it marvelling that it is mine all mine. I used to squish myself into the corners so I could see it and love it from all angles.

Hahaaa, I do that :D

I need to sort out a new kitchen, a new bathroom and to sort the big front room. Also need loads and loads more pictures before I'm totally settled with it, but I LOVE the garden and the garage is going to be brilliant once I sort it out this summer.

Yes!

I totally love my house.

It needs a bit of work tho!

front garden and side gate need sorting out
need a new bathroom
shelves in the bedroom

but yeah fooking love it!

I love it! Needs to have loads done to it but it's got loads of character. Nice front room with wood flooring and a roaring gas fire, big kitchen. Could do with a new bathroom but it's OK. Lovely in the summer - the kitchen door opens out onto a decked area with grape vine above. Lovely to sit there eating breakfast in the morning.

I like it a lot, but I know it's not forever. The rooms are all really weird shapes, it has bastard storage heaters and no outdoor space at all - but it has a nice feeling to it :D Eventually I want to live in a house somewhere small and quiet with a big garden.

I forgot to say, this is what needs doing to mine (like you care :D)

Sand and wax floors in the living room and hall

Paint bathroom floor

Paint bathroom (black and white), kitchen (pink and white), hall (white from shitty council magnolia), and bedroom (yellow and white) after fixing bumps and lumps

Reseal the bath and sink

Paint something good on my front door

Put up pendant lights (I'm scared of electricity)

Fix bruck up shelf by drilling really really deep into the wall

Eventually lift and paint my bedroom floor

Make a garden on my balcony.

I like the place I'm currently in.

But looove the place I'll be moving into in less than a week  Nice big room, cool housemates and a cat called Brian.

The guy downstairs from me is a pimp and drug dealer. The woman next door to me has an estranged husband who is often found passed-out drunk on my doorstep. The police break someone's door down at least twice a week. I wouldn't live anywhere else.

I need someone to paint my bathroom ceiling. It's too high up for me and I have no ladder.

I need to get a man in

get a roller extension

Oh Phil, you're so ghetto!

I'm in the process of moving .. only a bit more stuff to go now. I'll miss my old house (dilapidated as it is) but I'm glad I found somewhere affordable in the same area (which I love). It's a lovely house with a piano (which I'm allowed to play) and a cat called Clouseau (which I'm allowed to feed).
