Do you like where you live?

Yes. I live on the OKR. You have to keep your wits about you, especially after dark, but I like the mix of Arabs, South Americans, Asians, Africans (esp the Ethiopian community here) and Eurotrash. It's never dull. Saturday nights are a heady mix of cooking smells and the drift of all sorts of ethnic music. Love it.

welcome to hackney:cool:
whereabouts in our fine borough are you moving to?

Stamford Hill actually - not central Hackney.
Have always had a soft spot for Hackney though - having been to so many good parties there.

When we first moved to Hither Green I was not too sure about, being born & raised in SW London, but now I really like it. Like the OP its got great transport links, excellent parks, villagey atmosphere with local shops.

Love it, couldn't love it more. The house itself is beautiful, ground floor Victorian place with a really nice flowery garden. Really quiet, can make loads of noise without disturbing neighbours, and it's really nice and light. The garden comes down by the side of the big windowed kitchen so it feels very countrysidey. It's also dirt cheap.

I love the area, plan on being here for as long as I live in England. I'm between Tulse Hill and Dulwich. Tulse Hill is great for superb transport links, just enough shops for day to day purchases, and an alright pub. It's quiet and the friendliest, most happily mixed place I've ever seen in London.

Dulwich is gorgeous, miles and miles of parks and general green niceness. Some nice places to eat and drink, 3 parks, and the woods.

Truly don't think there's a nicer spot in London.. apart from nearby Crystal Palace, I like the look of Palace.

I'm in loughborough Junction, and although have only been here six months (so maybe still have my rose tinted specs on) really love it :) have done a lot of moving over the past year or so and the fact that I am now here for the foreseeable future makes it that much more attractive. Nice neighbours too.

I love it-I'm three mins walk from countryside and ten mins into city which has some fab hippie pubs n cafes and a lovely castle and market. I can be at seaside in five mins on train, Manchester, Ednborough etc in under a few hours and lake district in fifteen minutes. And my garden is beautiful.
Only problem is lack of jobs around area

cor look, Everyone really loves where they live, don't they?

What a bunch of happy souls we have on Urban today :D

(OK, except sojourner, but there's always one...) :p

That sounds shit.

Yes! My postal address says Tulse Hill but I reckon I'm Herne Hill...but back to the question I HEART my endz!

Good transport links (bus stop to town and work on my doorstep), inbetween Herne Hill and Tulse Hill station, nice walk through Brockwell Park (which is less than 5 mins away) to Brixton, couple of decent boozers, takeaways and shops all in staggering distance.

It's all good!

Leicester's cheap-ish, dull, and suits my purposes for the immediate future. There's a handful of good pubs, decent cinema and good curry houses. Miss being in London as most of my mates are there, and there's just so much more happening.

So I'm content with where I live rather than actively like.

is your hair red at the moment and are you wearing pink socks today?

i think i saw you at about 6.40 this morning.

anyway, yes. i really love where we live.

i have a fantasy of living in the whole house, but even in our little bunker of a flat, i'm happier here than anywhere else i've lived.

herne hill is just fab. i'd like to live here forever.

Effes kebab,

To be honest, not a huge fan of West Norwood overall - but LOVE Efe's kebab, no one else seems to know what I'm talking about when I refer to it - we had a lovely, cheap meal in their back room... great, friendly people!

yes I do like where I live and I really hope that by the time it comes to move out of this flat, it is to move out of london, because the thought of living anywhere other than my flat in london gives me the fear.

I hate where I live. I keep seeing teenagers dealing drugs in the day. The high road has gotten really dodgy recently. Someone was shot there last weekend ('twas all over the papers, which didn't make it better) and everytime I'm around there past about 9pm, the kids get really lairy and shout abuse at random people. I still remember seeing an old drunk guy getting mugged and beaten up by a gang of kids at the bus stop.

I only have one mate living nearby. Other mates live in areas relatively close by, but not easily accessible enough to pop round whenever I like. Only good thing is having reasonable transport links.

no! I want to move back to London! I lived directly behind Euston Station for two years and I fucking loved it. :(

though it turned me into a lazy bastard cos I could without fail always get people to come to me.

plus anyone visiting london would always come visit :)

I saw ol skool rapper 'slick rick' in there once..
He was over from the U.S doing some B-Boy thingy & he stopped at Effes as its his favourite resturant in London..
I asked him how he knew the resturant & he said every one knows it in the states, He also told me he was born in mitcham?

Effes is a great spot.. (for carnivores & vegetarians alike)..

I've just moved from Battersea which was my all time favourite place to live, easy transport amazing park and close to the Kings Road ya!

I used to love Battersea, where I lived from 1984  until February this year.

I don't miss it, though, 'cos so far I 'heart' Brockley/Honor Oak Park where we've moved to. The surrounding area is very quiet and suburban but a ten minute walk takes you to several decent places to eat & drink. It's one of those areas where the bars and restaurants aren't in yer face (like Clapham) but if you know where to go there are some pleasant local pubs & top-notch nosebag.

Plus lots of green space. I walked to Hilly Fields a few weekends ago - a bit of a trek but walkable - & they had not only a farmers' market but a low-key outdoor concert with local bands (part of Brockley Max festival).
