do you ever listen to the CD i made and sent you? :D....

I have to be honest, if you knew me very well and were trying to compile a CD of stuff I'd hate, you'd come up with something pretty close to that. :o

Still, it's what Urburn is all about isn't it. :)

(And if you've heard mine, the last track is Gabba, if I remember rightly.)

Not this again.

Yeah, a few Nazi scumbags like it. Big deal.

Anyone else remember when one of the tabloids wrote a big article about how gabba clubs were full of Nazis and slagging off Loftgroover who ran a gabba night in London at the time, calling him a nazi etc. He wrote to them saying it was unlikely he was a Nazi given that he's black.

I know what gabba is. I like it. Fair enough if you don't, but don't call me a fucking Nazi just because I've got a shaved head and a certain taste in music. There are lots of neo-Nazis in Europe, and any correlation between them and gabba is coincidental. Gabba is NOT hate music. It DOESN'T make you want to go and set fire to babies. In fact, it's very good at releasing tension and aggression in a non-violent way* and, were you to attend a random gabber night, you'd more than likely see happy blokes whose only focus is the music.

*Except Delta Nine. They'll just scare the shit out of you ;)

Tosser.

Gabba = good in 30 minue bursts. Once you've heard 'Cocksucker!Cocksucker!Cocksucker!Cocksucker!Cocksucker!Cocksucker!Fucked my sister! Cocksucker!Cocksucker!Cocksucker!Cocksucker!Cocksucker!Cocksucker! WOOOOORAGH!
BAMBAMBAMBAMBAMBAMBAMBABABAMBAMBAMBAM' repeated with sample changes 8 or so times it tends to pall a little...

Is true unfortunately, but must add that not all of it's artists or followers are neo nazis, but there is a sizeable number.

"Because of the extreme tempo of the music, and the shaven heads and clothing preference being associated with skinheads or neo-nazis, some generalize that gabber fans are Nazis. Feelings of nationalism are quite strong among some gabber groups, and their bomber jackets were often decorated with Dutch flags. Many gabber fans are skinheads of various ideologies, but it does not dominate the style."

As I said above, some Nazi scumbags like it, but so what?

I think we're all aware that that element exists, and that some people do see gabba as having that image, but it is only a minority, and if that's all you've got to say about it (especially in that first post which just reads like a stupid pointless dig) then you might as well not bother.

Sorry it's Monday didn't mean to have a dig. It is quite a common view that it has a large nazi following and not just a minority. I know a few soundsystems that have a gabba music policy and I have known to indulge in the music and unfortunately know a few people who indulge in the ideology too.

Fair enough. Like I said, it is an element that is there. Probably more in Europe than here. I just think it's important (as far as talking about Gabba can be considered important, I don't take myself quite that seriously) to present a more rounded view, rather than just sticking that up there by itself.

Gabba's ideology is to be a nazi? Is it fuck!

Despite a (in the scale of things worldwide) minority of gabba fans being supposedly 'nazis' the vast (VAST) majority of the music is completely anti-racism, anti-facism, anti-nazi. Whatever a select group of people who listen to gabba do is up to them, it is not the ideology of the music or scene. I can't count the number of records (mainly from the continent) i own that either have anti-racism lyrics or sleeve notes.

It's also worth noting that in my opinion, the UK gabba scene is in fact one of the funnest/friendliest music scenes that exist over here, despite its 'appearance'.
