If I were making advent calendars I'd be far more creative and put stuff like severed fingers & live scorpions behind each door.

This ^^ I used to get the 'kids' choccy ones from Lidl but as they're now 27 and 20 I think it's safe to stop.

I cried the first year my mum decided not to bother (I was 21). Big, sad, fat tears of unhappy.

Of course i could have bought myself one. Not. The. Same. Thing. At. All.

wer have a refillable tree-shaped one with drawers from M&S, but i don't think we'll bother this year because grinder will miss over half of advent and I'll miss the last week.

I don't have an advent calendar, but I have a Swedish Ljuskrona which looks a bit like this:

Only it's a small tabletop version with tiny candles and little painted men, women and apples.

I saw a hello kitty calendar in tesco that I intend to by. For me, to be eaten by 15 December!

Oh god yeah. In my first year at uni, everyone else on my corridor got sent an advent calendar by their mum. Everyone but me

Tears ensued.

This year she got me a chocolate one from M&S (I'm 30)
