The Bubbles don't do much though, they don't change colour or anything they just glow. Never seen the point of 'em. :)
True they don't do much, but if you've got lots of different colours would look pretty :)
Lava lamps don't change colour either :p

derv does contact juggling with his mathmos bubble. its only one colour though. thats what attracted me to the tumbler, the different ways you put it down it changes to a different colour. (and it was £30 on ebay and £49 in shops)

Took a Tumbler home the other day, the old display one and it works really well in our back room. Sold the last two the other day for £35, they're not as popular as other Mathmos things. :(

derv collects lighting iyswim, he's got a few mathmos things and a few that scroll through several colours. great to play with when munted :D

he yearns for a projector though

get yourself electric sheep - its a screensaver but you will be absorbed for hours as it continually updates as people create new parts http://electricsheep.org/. or set winamp to milkdrop which is also cool.
ooh - thanks for that - off home now to play :-)

have you ever come across this collaborative web entertainment ?

It's the Winamp visualiser - everyone's graphics card should have "TV out" - it's better than what's on telly a lot of the time

Like having your own vj in your living room

I must give it a go sometime

yep, got one and like it.

At the moment I'm not often home and relaxing for lnog enough to make it worthwhile switiching it on though.

I think lava lamps look the bee's bollocks - can't really understand why they became so vilified in the '80s. I have a kind of lava lamp - it's actually a blob lamp, but there's not really any difference. And it's wonderfully spacey and psychedelic and everything, so c:cool::cool:l.

No

I really wanted one exactly like the ones from the early 70s with bronze anodized aluminium, but those designs appear to have been banned as deathtraps. :(

ok. over three hours after I switched it on, it's now just about there. The wax is reaching the top of the bottle, but it isn't quite breaking off into globules and doing the rise and fall. Still cool tho.

i didnt know they took that long to do their thang. just kinda assumed they were instant. mind you i've never played with one i dont think. certainly never owned one

Griff - is this a not so cunning ploy to get people to buy things from your shop?! ;)

we don't have a lava lamp, we have a rather wonderful mathmos projector

Mines in a globby ball at the bottom of the thing, doing fuck all. There is a smaller globby ball at the top. No movement. Damn thing.

its broke then innit :(

poke it with a pointy stick! :D

Yep we have a straight cylindrical one which is blue and green.

I used to have one of the original shaped ones (quosh bottle ;) ) which was lilac with orange wax but I left it in sunlight and it lost its colour.

But they're not as good as the laserpod I got from your shop last xmas Griff ;) (spot the advertisement :D )

I have lots of lovely lights :) An orange lava lamp, a green Mathmos ball, a fibre optic cactus, and a Michelin man like you get on lorries, with fairy lights inside.
