Jelly is this:

Quite different from Jeelie:

That's Jello

J-a-m. Peanut butter and j-am. JAM. Jam. Jam. And yes, peanut butter and JAM is very nice. In fact I'm going to have a toasted peanut butter and jam bagel right now!

blech.

mind you, I might like it as a treat now and then if it actually involved:

home made bread
sugar-free/crap-free peanut butter
sugar-free/crap free jam

but it never did when I was a child. You couldn't get me near any sort of fruit preserve/smush thing because I'd never tasted an all-natural variety of it.

but anyway, I don't eat bread, peanuts, or smushy fruit much these days

You can buy peanut butter with Welch's Purple Grape conserve already through it, in stripes like toothpaste.
i've had that, its not that good...better to use separate jars of each

I sometimes eat Peanut butter and jam, but on toast not in sandwiches.
thats weird, the peanut butter would melt

peanut butter and jam is what the good Earl had in mind when he invented his snack
i see

It has to be STRAWBERRY jam?!

strawberry is traditional but many do grape flavour or others....whatever you like

last nite i came home and made a HUGE peanut butter/jelly sandwich with half inch thick peanut butter and half inch of strawberry jelly on soft white bread. also had a big glass of milk with ice in it.

that was the progenitor for this thread

that and the booze in me brain :o

You can't have jam without sugar, it would be wrong - and disgusting!

Its one american import I think is great, but it has to be crunchy peanut butter, strawberry jam and fresh white bread.

I also agree its even better on toast:)

I like peanut butter and apricot jam, also not quite the same but peanut butter and marmite :P

I wonder if the american thing came from Scottish immigrants saying jeelie or because they take the pips out making it look like our jelly.

Yup, the "jeelie piece" is well-ensconced in scottish culture.

Although once again, I am truly disturbed to see another peanut butter thread on here. :hmm: :(

i want one of these...

It wouldn't look that clean and tidy if you actually used it. I bet that thing's shit and it doesn't work. If it were that easy, you could just mash some peanuts in a pestle and mortar and hey presto! peanut butter.

In Trader Joe's in California, they sell cashew nut butter and almond butter. They piss all over peanut
