Do you get any 'specialist' magazines or mag subscriptions?

I've a subscription to the London Review of Books which I was given by someone I know who subscribes and offered his 'introduce a friend' subscription to me. Oh, and I read Rail magazine. :o

Sound on Sound, Private Eye, Airflash (community radio news, I'm thrilling, me) and Third Sector. But my favourite read is the Waitrose glossy recipe / shopping mags that my mum sends me :)

I get Good Food and Olive magazine (I get them half-price). Hendo gets Private Eye and The Economist.

A-B, the Journal of the Folding Bicycle Society
Isis - the Bob Dylan Newsletter
Economist
Frieze
Architects Journal
Rail

I get lots of free subscriptions to IT stuff at work (Computer Weekly, Computing, Government Computing, MIS, CIO), most of which get a quick skim on the khazi and then recycled. For some reason I also get Young People Now, which is occasionally interesting. I've been having a concerted effort to get myself removed from lists lately so I don't get nearly as many as I used to.

At home I get The Philosophers' Magazine and Think.

I don't subscribe, but I regularly read Private Eye and SFX. Oh, and a new SF mag called Death Ray - it's "where science fiction lives" apparently.

nothing regularly but i'll pick up the obscurer music mags such as plan b when i see them, which isn't often these days as i live and work in brixton and streatham. the last thing i subscribed to was 'comes with a smile' which was great but they couldn't afford to keep going. i don't seem to have any time to read these days. i was sent a review copy of the NME the other week and it was one of the most depressing things i've ever read. no real journalism, very little criticism (in the review sense), i managed to read a music mag cover to cover without actually elarning anything about the musicians or their music.

Bumping this thread because I was searching for TLS.

I really want to subscribe to some literary mags but I don't know that I can justify it. I'd quite like to subscribe to the New York Review of Books, and probably the London Review of Books and TLS, but they're all so flaming expensive.

I'll stick with my one subscription to LivingEtc. :o

I had subscriptions to Which? and Marie Claire, but I've just cancelled them.

I only did them because there were special offers. Bit disappointed with the Marie Claire, as they don't send the free gifts you get if you buy it in a shop. It was only £1 for three issues though.

What a bump! Still get Plan B and When Saturday Comes on subscription and Private Eye most fortnights but not seen any interesting new mags in a while.

I have an LRB subscription.

If you want to read any on the website I will let you use my subscription thingy.

You can always read it in the Library at Keele! I use to read the TLS in there every Thursday, and then buy it from the newsagents on campus, if it was any good.

I wouldn't mind reading the New York Review of Books more often, though!

The Ecologist is the only one I get each issue of, but I'll buy The Wire if it's got a free CD with and/or I feel like being recommended some very left-field music.

I subscribe to Private eye and Drapers Record. I've also got an online subscription to Footwear News - at $50 it works out alot cheaper than $300 for the paper one - I've no idea why more companies don't do online ones.

I get every issue of L'Officiel Accessoires 1000 models, Canal Boat and Waterways World and Zoom on fashion trends and View (trend forecasting mag).

I honestly didn't know they have it there! Thanks :) Now you have to PM me where it is, and your LRB log in ;)

The one I really want is the NYRB. I wonder if they have that at Keele :hmm:

.

i get Information Week which is an IT magazine but more from the business side vs. the technical side. I've been gettin' it for free for the last 13 yrs. Just need to fill out a survey questionaire every year.

I was in WHSmith's yesterday, and highly tempted to pick up a copy of Railway Modeller. My father used to get it every issue back when he relived an idealised version of his own childhood through my hobbies (ie model railways, stamp collecting).

Whilst I was never that into model railways myself, I was always fascinated by the photographs of amazing sets built in attics, home offices, under floorboards, in gardens etc which featured in RM.
