Do we need a festival forum?

I think yes. The glasto thread doesn't need much help, but all the smaller festivals are almost invisible here. I'd enjoy reading even if I wasn't going.

Exactly.. I'd see it as an oasis of calmness, to exchange, ideas, banter and thoughts on this lesser known, yet highly commendable jewels in the festie calander.

Don't look like its gonna happen.

Too bad.

:(

I think it would be useful as an overview of the festivals going on at the very least. You shouldn't have to search for a festival thread to see if one got posted 3 months ago before posting, it should be more easily accessible imo. Some festivals are naturally going to have more people posting on them yes, but doesn't mean they should be the ones people are made aware of.

I'd find it annoying if someone replied to my new thread saying 'there is already a thread for this' which was started months back and no-one was interested back then. But then again, I would search for it..

Glade, Beautiful Days, Sunrise Celebration, Bestival and the like really do have a following on Urban but the threads can be a bitch to find.

But the world is full of dedicated festival forums and I've had my fill of the damaged goods that tends to run them.

One solution - I suppose - might be to make a festival sub forum but only have redirected links back to the actual threads the music forum.

Echo this too. I really want to go to Endorsit this year, had a crew pass and everything last year only for a family member to collapse and do a near death thing so I couldn't go :(

Yep, I like to read the smaller festival threads but they're a pain in the arse to find.

Isn't that a bit of a hassle for you?

So would it not be easier to whack them in a festival subforum as all you have to do is tick a few boxes and move them all at once?

Well, I've spent the last 30 minutes moving threads to the new festival sub-forum. My original plan to just have redirects back into the music forum wasn't technically possible, so I've done it the other way around,

There's certainly enough threads in there already to justify its existence and it seems a worthwhile forum, but if the mods tell me off in the morning for rashly going ahead and creating it without the usual proper consultation, then I might have to sheepishly put them all back.

Naughty ed.
