They seem ok. Nothing special.
They are one of my favourite bands ever!
New album in august. Back to other name. Single off it a bit mental. Like speeded up prog-shit.
Not getting on with the new album at all - very proggy and noodly. Not to worry though, their second drummer has just put out a new one with Warm Drag (LP = same name) that is fantastic and should take care of all your modern sleazy caveman needs - a sample:
They're trying to progress too quickly. They need to regroup in the cave quickly.
I am still expecting much from these guys.
They're 75 years old. You finding them is not their age.
They're giving it like it is for the kids tomorrow.
Even Dead Mans Gun gets my respect.
U75 sent them my way. Blame all here.
Just been to see em at Bristol O2. Really good and had a brilliant dance around the edges. Sadly can't handle the mosh pit anymore
If I had to buy one album by the Oh Sees as starter, which would I buy?
And a massive amplifier and huge speakers.
Floating Coffin is their best and most accessible album, so start there I reckon.
I agree - there's some great songs on there, but also some that don't quite work, and one song in particular - Anthemic Agressor - which is clearly meant to be the central grand masterpiece of the record, but in fact it's boring and unlistenable and it just blows a hole in the LP. Also the goblin warrior style lyrics are starting to wear a bit thin. Overall it's a 6/10 record.
Still, there'll be another Oh Sees album along next year I'm sure, so we'll see what we get then, eh? Hopefully Dwyer will have gotten this shit out of his system by then - although I suspect not.
