Do Swappies buy their own paper and how many issues each?

when i was paper organiser i let people choose how many papers they took - we were sent 500 copies for a branch with 20 at most paper members, and 7 active members, plus a few semiactive who would take papers - i tried to get the number of copies reduced(to save on waste) and got shouted at on the phone by a full timer and called a defeatist, bambi turned up at our next committee meeting and demanded to know why we didnt want more - they wouldnt take no for an answer and continued to send silly numbers down most of which ended up in the recycling bin outside tescos

This was my experience as well.

Butchers - Which is how SWP distro is supposed to work (in reality you get 100% more than you ask for) and give the money in at the next branch meeting. It's not like, say, WHSmith distribution is it? It's not sale or return, you just chuck the ones you haven't sold away. Or under the bed.

But in the AF you don't get a certain number to sell - you don't get any unless you ask.

When I was a member I never sold all the papers I had but you’re not expected to, you have extra in case you have an expectantly good week. The branch I was in for most of my membership used to get 50 papers each week, most weeks we’d sell between 10 and 20 some weeks we’d not get our arse into gear and sell about 4 (to each other) and one week we hit the high 40’s. We never really lied about the number sold if we sold 3 one week we sent of money for 3. The closet we came to lying was if you gave a paper away free (or took 20p for it or something) and someone else gave you a quid you count that as two sales.
