I'd be up for that too. I'm happy with Plusnet's service but feel I could be paying less than £37.97 a month (including £16.99 line rental on a landline that's never used). I'll be needing a static IP though.

Funnily enough, its plus.net that I've got. Need to be in a bt fibre area for the speed but they don't restrict any websites. Check on their website if you can upgrade.

Yeah it's FTTC and the cab is outside my front window across the road. I'm already getting 73mbps down and 17 up from them. So why am I paying nearly double what you pay?

So I've been looking at changing my DNS, mainly because virgin media block access to torrent day, and I want totally unrestricted internet access, I don't believe in the censorship of it.

But does anyone know any good dns's to use instead? I know opendns is popular, but its now owned by cisco, so I've no doubt they're logging everything going through......

Also whats the deal with using a public dns when you're using online banking etc? Are you opening yourself up to issues there? Or is it that the dns will only be responsible for the name redirection - hostname to ip and when the https connection is established with online banking/online payment then information can't be skimmed via the dns?

If you install Opera web browser and have it running in Turbo mode (accessed from the Opera dropdown menu on a mac) you will be able to access torrents sites fine.

That's a good tip, may see if my gf finds it easier then the VPN installed for her.

Tip originally from someone here but on a thread from ages ago so can't remember who. Works like a charm though.
