DMs and you!

What were/are the DMs in your life? :)

Horribly uncomfortable and unworn after a few times til hubby stretched them to fit him :)

If boots/shoes aren't comfy within one or two wears they don't go back on my feet.

I have between 35 and 40 pairs in all colours, including 3 pairs of silver and 5 pairs of red:o

what? that is mental:D

Mine get worn to death and gifted off as flowerpots. Mostly wear proper chunky steel toecap targus trojan workboots these days.

Dark cherry 12 ups. I left them at the house of the most beautiful woman I have ever seen when she dumped me. Couldn't go back.

I so wanted a pair of docs but my dad though they were for ruffians (like Jefe :p) and said I wasn't allowed any til I was 16.

He died when I was 14 :( and for my 15th birthday Jefe bought me a pair of 8 eyelet black docs. A bit of a cheeky rebellion I think. :D

I loved them and wore them constantly for years. I then bought myself some cherry red ones and a pair of 10 eyelet green ones that finally died at glastonbury 05 in the big flood. :(

I've also got a pair of black mary janes that I haven't worn for yonks.

I often get tempted to buy another pair but I'm not sure they're 'me' know. :hmm:

I thought that too sparklefish but it only took two wears of my new ones to make me remember my big-booted self and rejoice :) Thick tights, short skirt, nice jumper, DOCS. The grown up version of teenage me.

Those of you who know me will not be surprised to hear that I have never owned a pair of DMss, and never will. :D

got my mum to buy me a pair of black 8 holed DMs when i was 14, loved them, and can't recall a time when i haven't owned a pair in the 30 years (nearly) since

currently wearing some steel toe capped docs i bought off ebay for £25, also have some DM brogues, that I haven't worn for about 5 years, brown DM shoes (haven't worn them for years too) black 6 holers, which i do wear, and DM desert boots, which are a bit battered, but comfy so I do wear

I wouldn't buy traditional DMs any more, too much wearing in, if i buy the boots, tend to buy the soft leather ones, and tend to go to the DM shop in Camden Town (i hope it's still there, the last two haven't been bought from there:o)

I've had a few pairs of black boots and shoes over the years, though I'm currently sporting a pair of these.

First pair of DM's were 8-Hole black ones when I was in secondary school & I still have & wear them now.
My second pair were like these ones:

My best mate "borrowed" them and still has not returned them to me...:rolleyes:

I would like a pair of the 20-eye boots in black.

When I worked outdoors a lot (over the space of about 20 years) I favoured DMs as really good practical footwear. I never went for the really high leg type. I always had black ones and I always used Dubbin on them because I'd often be out working in all weathers. I haven't had a pair for years. I work indoors mostly now and my work has a dress code. A couple of male colleagues wear black DM shoes. If I'm gardening I usually wear a pair of old leather trainers that Pip gave me. They are really comfy and I have chucked them in the washing machine more than once and then stuffed them with newspaper. They are likely to last me years as my gardening shoes.

My mum was quite pleased I wanted to wear them as a teenager because they were 'sensible', i.e. not high heeled or pointy-toed :D

Mine too :)

I had a green pair of six holes when I was about 13.
Black steel toe capped shoes for school for most of secondary.
Loads of pairs of black six holes, some painted, some plain.
A silver pair and a pair of purple glitter ones when I was in my late teens that as they were not every day wear, never really got broken in properly and ripped my feet apart.

I am actually tempted to get a steel toe capped pair of black six holes again now :hmm:

Have never owned or worn DM's.........

my eldest son did once wear the soles out of a pair though !
