Naaa... they haven't the guts to discuss it openly - that's why they hid it away on the "clique only" forums...

Sad really.

You are fucking pathetic. Obsessed.

To their credit the mods/management here haven't been constantly whining about over the road in the way you have. If you really do hate us all so much, aren't you relieved to see the back of us?

There is no problem - just a couple of twats trying to get a rise out of me and a few others over something quite unrelated - because I DJ a bit they think it's some kind of insult to me to slag off the culture.

Shame it ain't going to plan...

Nobody has slagged off 'the' culture. In fact the content of the posts reflect the diversity of DJ styles that exists.

Any way at Hibees wedding I would have played a bit of R.Dean Taylor Gost in my House, Len Barry 1-2-3, The Tempations Love potion no9,Staggerlee, Ashes to ashes -Dave Bowie, the Proclaimers 100 miles, Treason -Teardrop Explodes, House of Bamboo-Andy Williams, I said Yeh- Georgie Fame, Annie I am not your Daddy-King Creole, Celtic Soul Brothers-Dexy's

Whaddya think? any advice?

whilst i'm not overly bothered, it does seem that the Tolling Gang mission statement - of not using it as somewhere to slag off Urban and its posters - isn't QUITE being followed through, is it? although these things are generally moved to the secret forums now.

There's definitely a knack to DJing - a good DJ can really make a night, get the dance floor jumping and bring a smile to people's faces, whereas a duff one can just be an annoying noise in the background.

I'm still struggling to learn the craft and already know that I'm unlikely to progress past 'cheerful dabbler', although I'll modestly say that my slots seems to have gone down well enough.

There is definitely a knack and a skill to 'proper' DJing though and anyone thinks that it's as simple as slapping on any old records in a busy club clearly hasn't done it themselves.

Mind you, I'm not into this 'cult of the DJ' bollocks and as far as I'm concerned most of them should be banished to the shadows (that's definitely where I like to lurk) and not stuck on some spinning pedestal, or whatever.

(I hope this thread isn't just a continuation of that fucking disgraceful thead at the other place, btw. That would be very disappointing).

I think the first paragraph is spot on and I think it is essential there is interaction between the tunes requested and tunes played. Sometime though seemingly complete random lists of records played come up with some great results. Wasn't there a couple of cd's released on this basis mixing the unmixable or at least the unlikley-able?

PS I wasn't part of anything last night at all.Was out playing pool. The image of DJ Rave On from Pheonix nights just made me wet my pants though when I read one of PKs posts about what a DJ he was.

So why are you still here?

If they're in the secret forums I couldn't give a toss.

But the two-faced lisping little gothic-looking wannabe journo twunt sticking my picture up as well as personal info on a public forum so that Daffyd and the rest of the twats can further their obsession with me, and others, no, I'm not having that any more than they would.

Though it's clearly dissensus part 2 to anyone who remembers that carcrash....

Oh please - I was hardly bigging myself up... that's just what you want to believe.... hence the sarcasm.

I play once a month if that. Get over it.

Actually, I did complain to kea about that one spiteful, malicious and cowardly thread. It was a disgrace.

I assume that it's now been shunted off to your secret forums, presumably for the main protaganists to continue their odious rants. Oh well.

They're entitled to their opinions about me, Offline and some of the other posters here of course, but it does seem to me that by posting up such comments on a public board they're hell bent on stirring up a board war.

Maybe they crave the attention?
Sadly for them, I'm not interested.

Just disappointed, frankly. It's all a bit obsessive.

In spite of her assurances :

"thith ithn't going to be a forum to thlag off memberth of Urban Theventhy Five"

Dissensus part two, only with better spelling.

Sounds good, but if I dare give you a tip, it would be to take a LOT more records than you think you need, and make sure you cover a good range of styles.

If the crowd aren't getting on down to your tunes, you're going to need a good reserve of alternative sounds otherwise you're sunk!

Please, stop this personal shit NOW.

You're acting as bad as some of them.

Good point, might need a bit of country and western. Any advice PK?

Absolutely could not agree more.

Someone mentioned the issue of DJ's being 'musical know alls', and I actually think that under some circumstances this can be a good thing. It really does help if you can place a record within a historical context, not in a pretentious 'look how fucking clever I am' way, but in a way that leaves the listener open to further suggestions. I often hear people saying that 'anybody can mix' - this just isn't true -especially if you are doing it imaginatively (and without the aid of a computer/lap top/bpm counter/let the machine do all the intuitive stuff).

BB :)

Just for the record, the thread was removed to the mods forum so we could discuss what went wrong and the general consenus was that we didn't want that sort of crap on there and that similar stuff would also be removed.

(I'll not be entering into any debate about it either)

Of course it was... funny how most of the moderators were involved in the slagging then isn't it - sorry, I know you're lying.

Two DJs walking down the street, one says to the other

'Fancy going to the cinema?',

the other replies:

'Depends on who the projectionist is' :)

(right better go back and read all the abuse)

Oh, sorry as little as that? You can see why I got the wrong impression though....
