DIY Question - Fireplaces

Maybe they couldn't find the brackets so plastered the wall flush with the old fireplace and put the new one in over the top.

I think I've got one of those, hidden under layers and layers of paint. I've scraped a bit and I think some of it might be duck-egg blue! I can't wait to go at it with Nitromors
