Dismissal help

Because of my many years in the dept and my pay grading - they were paying me nearly double that of an individual that was new to the department, for doing pretty much the same work(albeit mine with higher targets). So in my opinion it was blatant cost cutting. Especially when you consider I was dismissed on the day the bank posted they had lost 80% of the value of the company (i think you all know which bank I'm talking about now). I worked my ass off for them and this is how they 'reward' their best staff?? They deserve to go down the shitter IMO.

If you were there for many years and this was genuinely unjust, you wouldn't be worried and you would be taking their ass to tribunal.

Something is amiss here... ?

I'm fairly sure you are allowed to give negative references however you must be able to substantiate them.

"Bob's a wanker" - Bad unless i was caught jerking off at work.

"Bob stole from the till" - Only bad if i am innocent of the charge.

I am doing exactly this. I have to appeal first - awaiting the outcome of this. However, I need to get another job in the mean time.

What are the timescales here? When did you lose your job? (I seem to remember reading about it)

Good luck with it. Good thing for you is that all calls should be recorded :)

It shouldn't take months surely? Talk to HR, try to accelerate it, record everything, there is no reason for it to drag on.
