Dirty Pretty Things last night

No. That's an appropriate response to an extent, but in a socially-connected world we have opportunities to climb off of the ivory tower and to seek collective shared experiences. Romantic views of the past aside (which has been dealt with) the myth of a 20/21 century self-realisation, triumph of individual world view is that it serves to weaken, rather than strengthen, collective conscous awareness. You have to think of it in terms of the aims of Mao's cultural revolution - what he achieved through statist control, we have achieved over here by furnishing a society based on the fetish of the spectacle, situationism, basically. The challenge is to apply your own experiential awareness while also adding a filter of that which yo have learned from those and that around you. Basically I challenge the simplicity of that view, because I think it's not relevant to the necessary evolution-driven genetic need that humans face today.

Your a stalking horse, aren't you, mate?

So I'd like to hear some of your others Cheesy, because for some obscure reason some time ago I found myself moving from sheer wanting to shut Cheesy up to a frame of mind in which I am actually vaguely interested in what you think. Sure, I still think you are often wrong, but so what? After all, we all are born alone and die alone, and even life in company is in a way very solitary. perhaps you have a point, you post William Blake post modern anachronist, you...

Or perhaps, living life without purpose and driven as we are as failed trees stuck in a logjam on a river of life, with nothing to gain but our chains, you take a cue from Ken Kesey - laughing slightly maybe, just maybe you do choose to yell "Furthur" at the same time drifting (as some say we all do) inexorably toward the same charnel yard to which destiny demands we all take as our eternal domain, while exploring this evolutionary accident, this precious jewel, this magic moment so many with a vested interest in such things declare to be 'life'. Which others call a virus. Trapped forever in our eternal human combat with mortality.

Or whatever

Pontificators. Can't stand 'em, me.

it is the very nature of its wit and satiric value that makes these things uniquely British.

How do you know it's uniquely British? Have you compared British wit and satire with that of other cultures?

what have you been reading lately?
u've been lion hunting and to be honest it pounds upon my brain.;)

Ah. the classic maneuver when faced with an original thought - say it came from a book. But I didn't write the book yet. That's my head those things came from. Now, returning to dear Petey, I think his universal soul has ceased transmission.

the reference was in response to the pontificators above. It means that we dont need some ponce telling us what the fuck it means, you interpret it from your own imagination, thoughts, feelings and experiences, untainted by some textbook view of the world.

YOU EXPERIENCE IT FOR YOURSELF.

er...my original point there for you, nakedly above.

Erm? What's original about repeating Christian dictat - effectivly man's search for the soul. That's just something you got taught by the preacher man.

Dear, dear, for a moment I thought I may have just got you communicating. Alas and alack, how wrong I was.

if it happens to be a question of moral dilemma, that is a coincidence.

Such depth, such brevity. It sure helps to know everything happens for a reason.

Don't ever change, Cheesy, don't ever change. Just cos they don't understand doesn't mean anyone ever has to. you are an island. in isolation. Everything that happens to you is new, ergo, you are the original. You are in the footsteps of gods, gathering power among the flotsam of sundered dreams.

What was that line Docherty had about that?
Was it "Fuck Forever", or was it his other one?

i like that.

I'm very happy you do. But is that sensation described a path to truth and beauty, or to hubris and the fall from grace?

call me pete, call me.

So tell me, what happens in this Albion, this perfect England?

upper middle class menswear tribute act secure patronage of a stylist from 'pure' magazine who persuades them to ditch the camden market suits in favour of leather jackets, converse and manics style slogans marker-penned on jeans...NME journo and rough trade A&R bod persuades them to speed their songs up by 120bpm...make shit records...become famous...disappear into deserved obscurity/drug overdose etc...

think that about sums it up IMO:)

why don't you go out, get your ears syringed and find some decent music to listen to rather than that fucking garbage?
