well exactly!

anyone who thinks the dancing in that film is in any way 'dirty' needs to get out a bit more.... ;)
well i certainly don't dance like that in public. all grinding crotches and back bends. i'm more of a bopper really.

*mental note* must go to an offline to see if it's a sweaty den of iniquity!

Love Dirty Dancing and other chickflicks. I think that the people moaning on this thread really love it too but are just too cool to admit it. Come on guys, you know you really love it, nothing to be ashamed of! Come out of the Dirty Dancing closet this minute. You'll feel liberated!

and all other chick flicks such as bridget jones, and pretty woman,

they make me want to kill, they honestly do!  :D

I fucking hate chick lit more though.

The book covers are always in pastel colours and there's always a slender cartoon drawring of a woman with a glass of champagne, a buggy or outside a cartoon house with shopping bags, all these characters have heels on and a mysterious look on their faces.

Yep, that's women for ya :D

i don't go to offline so can't comment.

seriously though electrogirl. the dancing in that film is not in the least erotic or filthy or anything remotely sexy (imo of course). from what i remember, it's mainly jive with a bit of lindy-hopping thrown in for good measure. :)

erm, no.

Dirty Dancing is SHIT

I remember the first time I watched it. There was a bunch of us girls from school, we all went to a friend's house to watch, it was poor then and it's poor now.

I never understood Patrick's appeal either... (all my mates liked it though... grrr! I never felt so alone! :) )

it's a poor film, badly scripted, boring story, terrible acting, shit dancing.

you're mental! what about when she goes upstairs having carried a watermelon and they're all at it! what do you want them to do? have sexual intercourse on the dancefloor? ;)

the end scene is slightly tamer, but then her dad is there so they can;t get too raunchy.

the "dirty" dancing are the grindy bits that the staff do behind scenes and away from the holidaymakers. it's fairly grubby.

I really hate cheesy chick flicks and chick lit. I'm too cynical for that kind of stuff...

but it's entertaining! it's not life changing or anyting but it's fun! the dance scene at the end is hilairious.

I love chick flicks but I really hate chick lit. Don't know why I detest the latter though. For example I hated the Bridget Jones book but loved the film.

there is some good, intelligent, genuinely funny chick lit, but there is some utter dross aswell. same with any genre i guess.

*This song has special resonance with me. In my dancing days, one of my dancing pals was doing a rather floaty routine to this Patrick Swayze number in a competition. At the end of her routine, she had a rather difficult end position which positioned her arse rather near the microphone's at the front of the stage. My dancing pal proceeded to pass wind rather loudly and for a long time, directly into the microphone. Unfortunately the microphones had been left on from the tap dance section beforehand and her blow-off echoed around the whole auditorium. I've never laughed so much in my life.

Just spewed tea across my keyboard, that's the funniest thing I've read in ages! Thanks for sharing!

I bloody love Dirty Dancing, always have. Me and my best friend used to alternate between dirty dancing, grease or girls just wanna have fun so used to watch it about every 3 weeks.:o

Might watch it tomorrow.

As for lambrini-wrong wrong wrong but did for me and my housemates when we were all on the dole. The first time my mate had a proper bottle of wine she was very ill as all she'd ever drunk was lambrini.

They have got mini bottles now in a gift box, I'm gonna get her one for crimbo for old times sake.:D

It really is a sorry state of affairs when there are people on this earth that enjoy the film Dirty Dancing.

I would rather boil my own head.

I do own the soundtrack though, I think I bought it when I was about 8.

I think you'll find you would have been about 11 mate :p

Whereas a spring chicken like me would have been 4 :D

the soundtrack is great. the dancing isn't exactly dutty wine, but then we are talking 1960's america here. it's clearly not going to change anyone's life - it's just a bit of fun.

regarding lambrini, does anyone drink that stuff?

Don't mind the film. Wouldn't particularly want to watch it again - I've seen it about twenty times already, owing to having friends who loved it when it first came out.

I thought 'Dirty Dancing' was referring to sex more than the dancing itself, even though that was dirty for the time the film was set.

Lambrini's actually quite nice, but it's not a drink I'd want to consume in public.
