As you are the manager in charge, I agree with the above.dolly's gal said:yeh but you do phone in and tell someone you're not coming in. and ranting on about how you're going out on the lash the night before is kinda rubbing your colleagues faces in it somewhat, no? there are ways and means my dear, ways and means...

Aye, though I never had trouble phoning in sick when I was working some shit job in which I wouldn't be missed. In my current job, my team is small and it would be tight to pull a sickiemarty21 said:i don't either - i find it difficult to take sickies - i blame my mum, she never let me take time off school unless i was really at death's doorthat has followed me into adulthood

YepMrs Miggins said:Of course she's not genuinely sick - she's hungover. don't feel bad about it. If she really was sick, she would have got up at normal time, realised she was ill and phoned in sick - no?
Loads of people do.zenie said:And of course no-one ever takes the piss and pulls a sickie do they?![]()

Quitesparklefish said:The issue isn't that she was off sick, just how she's gone about things. She's an idiot for boasting about it the day before.
Also, she's put Dolly in a shit position too and was probably quite aware of the fact that Dolly was in charge in their managers absence when she ordered the 3rd bottle of wine, and thought 'fuck it'.
At our place they phone you by 11 I think if you haven't called in, it's HR policy so I don't think phoning her was out of order.

It might just be a 'fucking job' but don't bother doing it if you're just gonna fuck it up for other people

Yeh, I'm the same - same with the job situ toosparklefish said:Yup, I feel far too guilty to skive now and even feel guilty when I am ill.
In previous jobs I was always off sick but they were shitty sales jobs and stuff so my absence didn't fuck up my colleagues.
And you never say you've got flu unless you have been off a few days and have been to the docs because even if you feel like you have, no-one will believe you. One or two day absences should always be migraine, the squits or, if you have a male manager ladies problems because then he won't ask anymore and get you off the phone sharpish.![]()

beeboo said:Not sure this is quite as dumb as a guy who pulled a sickie here, not phoning in which prompted a phonecall home - whoever picked up the phone was quite confused stating that he "left for work as normal".
I'm not sure of the finer details (ie how this didn't provoke a search party being sent out) but basically it emerged he'd been lying to both work and home about his whereabouts for 3 days.
Reminds me of some dopey twat who worked for me last year. He'd been out all night gaming in some Manc net cafe, didn't make the last train, and walked home - except he didn't get home til about 11 the next day.Orang Utan said:I'm always sceptical about migraine - only certain people get them.

I'm not, as I did actually start getting them for the first time a couple of years ago - due to stress I think.Orang Utan said:I'm always sceptical about migraine - only certain people get them.
