Dilema: Should I buy a Wii or should I wait for PS3

My housemate deleted my new friend's Mii the other day, because they didn't get on very well and he didn't think she'd be back.

It was "cluttering up the Wii", apparently...

I'm going to assasinate a member of his family in revenge later.

 :D

From that IGN thing:

Despite promises of a million systems at Japanese retail by the end of 2006, Japanese publisher Enterbrain reports today that Sony has managed to sell just 466,716 PS3 units to Japan. This figure covers the period from the Japanese launch on 11/11 to the end of the year.

In comparison, Enterbrain reports that Nintendo managed to sell 989,118 Wii units from the 12/2 launch to the end of the year, with the number quickly jumping over the million mark for a total of 1,135,671 units by 1/7.

What's the date format in there? It's not very clear that they are making a direct period-for-period comparison.

The other thing with the PS3 will be that as most games are multi-platform now and it's far easier to program the Xbox360 - PS3 games will just be ports of Xb360 games.

IGN has said that the port of Tony Hawks 8 to the PS3 is almost unplayable due to frame rate issues.

Thats only true until the installed user base of the PS3 is greater than the 360 (which i really cant see not happening). Then the PS3 will become the primary platform for development and the 360 will be the console getting half-assed ports.

The PS3 will still be the prime development platform for Jpanese devs anyway as the 360 is dead over there.

i had a go on my cousins wii at xmas and its the don , seriously , i was playing baseball and cos of the speaker in the controller when i missed the ball i heard it fly past my ear , absolutely brilliant and immersive.

as for when i got a home run......................:D

I'm waiting for the PS3 to see what they are like, for no reason whatsoever I think the PS3 will get up to #1 once a steady stream of units start to ship.

Colleague of mine in Japan has played it in the shops and tells me it's amazing.

Read somewhere (sorry, can't recall source) that the top selling console of 2007 is predicted to be..........

The PS2! (that's 2 mind you).
Which kind of puts it all into perspective (if true). :D

But at the end of the day, horsepower wise, it's no different from the Xbox360 at half the price.

I really don't want my games console to be a blu-ray player, which has jacked up the price. I mean, does anyone use the PS2 as a DVD player?
