Different Eeks For Different Peeps (Horror tolerance thread)

None of the Hellraisers really contain what i'd call 'proper gore', except the full uncut version of Hellraiser 2 with the bloke trying to cut off the imaginary maggots off of his body with a razor blade. Apart from that its generally the usual 'cheapish' b-movie gore. Fantastic films though :D

** wonders what proper gore is **

I thought Hellraiser was quite gory... But then again I've never really got into the genre that much and I'm certainly no expert on gore... ;)

Least goriest thing ever... :)

I quite like Jeepers Creepers for the slow terror of them trying to get out of the basement (

Which they then spoilt by showing the most ridiculous looking movie "monster" since the 1933 version of King Kong.

:(
.

See i was watching that on Saturday night and I had already turned my head away several times. When it got to the razor bit I turned it off.

OK i'm a baby but it made me feel sick :(

so I guess it's disgust rather than fear.

Well the original hellraiser 2 seemed to have quite a bit of extra gore cut from it, especially from the scene with the maggots/razor blade. Was quite shocked to see how much more gore there was in that scene in the uncut version.

I was more disturbed by the Victorian-style loony bin downstairs rather than the razor scene. I saw Hellraiser 2 whilst visiting a friend up in Leeds, Hyde Park cinema (where one could still smoke!) completely off my head, drifting in-and-out of sleep..the filum started invading my dreams and by the end I was quite freaked.

Anyone scared by Day of the Dead is a bit silly imho- I still prefer the horror of Don't Look Back or Rosemary's Baby

Don't Look Back? Er, yeh, I think Bob Dylan can be a little scary.

Did you mean Don't Look Now?

In which case I agree. The grossing out scenes are one cringe-making type thing but not scary. It is the atmosfear horror that does it for me. Suspiria, Don't Look Now, Blair Witch...

Almost nothing freaks me out on film, but then I'm the only person I know that if I had open heart surgery I'd want it under a local so I could watch and see the inside of my own body...

I cannot watch any zombie films.... part of me (sat in a bar in New Orleans) belives in voodoo too much.

I also cant watch apocolypse (sp) movies.... makes me feel hollow and destraught. I could only watch the first part of The Stand when it was serialised. I had bad dreams for weeks, and being raised by my gore-fest loving Mum, thats had to believe.

Omigod! the Hyde Prak cinema! :D what memories of student days that brings back! Is it still open?

I found the loony bin basement horrible too - there always lurks the thought that maybe such places exist and kept secret. :(

I couldn't watch the film to the end - just too unpleasant and I thought it would give me bad dreams.
