It's obviously a bad idea to cycle pissed, but as far as the legal side goes the police take it about as seriously as they take speeding in a car; you won't get done so don't worry about it.

Unfortunately that may be true.
People caught speeding in a car should be punished, as they are taking a risk with other people's lives. Every person who drives must remember the huge responsibility they hold when in command of one or two tonnes of fast moving metal, speed limits are there to protect the public, and it is simply not acceptable for a person in a car to decide to ignore them.

Whereas when cycling, the only life risked is one's own.

I agree we need segregated cycle routes. Then cycling home pissed would be not significantly more dangerous than walking home pissed. Which I still wouldn't recommend, and believe is also slightly illegal.

Less risk of hurting others than with a car granted, but to say you're only risking yourself is crap.
