I would call Afghan Whigs post grunge. Although they were pre it as well. But Black Love was like 1997 when grunge was really passe and I remember buying it and thinking yeah this is what would have happened if grunge had got more mature...

I have the first album, which has plenty of good moments and must have sounded pretty fresh back in 1994. The closing track "Daddy" in which Jonathan Davies has a hysterical rant at some woman is genuinely creepy, particularly if listened to on an iPod while walking through Lincoln's Inn Fields late at night. :)

Although I don't have any of the later stuff, the singles I've heard sound much more mainstream and much less interesting.

Who would ever listen to Korn let alone buy a hoody that they have worn for 10 years?

Even if they did that i can't imagine they'd be stupid enough to pay to see them live...

OK i fucking love KORN!!! :p:p

My love affair with Korn was short-lived (as with the rest of "nu-metal") - liked the first album, bits of the second, they pulled out of Ozzfest '98 (so failed to see 'em when I still cared) and released a "meh" third album. bye bye, Korny!

Yeah, they were the last minute replacement.

T'was all about seeing Human Waste Project for me - a truly under-rated band, suffered from "Life of Agony syndrome" (name does the band a disservice!)
