Did Straw suffer the same fate as Cook?

She's a caravan enthusiast as well. :D

Nowt wrong with that, nor with liking a bottle or two of wine of a morning, but most of us would get sacked if we did it at work. However, otherwise she's a competent Minister. Allegedly.

*Disclaimer* All these statements re a certain person liking a touch of the old wine are *jokes* on a mesage board and should not be taken seriously. Nor should they in anyway be taken as a breach of security and investigated by MI5. Any resemblence to the alleged activities of a real Minister alive or living dead are entirely coincidental. :)

That theory never worked in the 1930's, did it.
Are you proposing military action against the US for threatning Iran?
:D

Any government official, who rules anything out, is not going to achieve much during negotiations.
Didn't we already rule out using our own nukes?

If they don't want to invade their neighbours, why do they want to develop nuclear weapons?

So remind me why Pakistan have nuclear weapons and why the US were happy to let them have them? Im not saying the Iranians are trustworthy, that would be lopsided hinking, but your line of thought shows a complete lack of critical thought, but then having read many of your posts it's what ive come to expect.

Lock and Light gets in there with the bullshit analogy to nazi Germany.

How many countrys has Iran invaded?

Who are they thretening to invade?

Yes of course Iran wants the bomb - and in their strategic position (bordered on two sides by the very hostile, agressive and nuclear armed US and within range of Israeli nukes) they'd be mad not to. The US is desperate to stop them because it would make it very difficult to attack a nuke -capable Iran.

If you want a 1930s analogy - its like Germany trying to prevent Poland building an airforce.

They way to prevent them nuking up? Stop threatening them, stop sanctions and engage all regional powers (especially Israel) in a process to de-nuke themselves. This in turn would give progressive forces within Iran a chance to breath and make progress. Iran is not a monolithic police state (as Iraq was) - its a large, diverse country with lots of different factions and a certain level of democracy - but US sabre rattling merely reinforces the most reactionary and nationalistic elements.

The alternative to positive engagment is the present scenario where the US paints itself into a corner and ends up attacking Iran and quite possibly gets sucked into a war which they cant possibly win (short of carpet nuking persia) and will have appalling and wide ranging consequnces that will eclispse the current catostrophe that is Iraq.

By that logic we're all fucked; God doesn't exist. Only the delusional believe in such a distraction.

I don't believe in God. It was god I was referring to. Not the same thing.

I believe theres a God just I believe the heavens are now brass and he aint planning to save us. Then again we weren't that kind to his son so it seems pretty fair really.:D
