Did I just seen an Airbus A380 over London?

Ew. Someone has been watching too many 70s Sci fi programes or something. Looks like Gerry Anderson's Puppets will be flying that plane (His wife did all the fashion designs you know).

Nope, those last few pics were taken of the Qantas A380 first, business and cattle class.

It's fucking horrendous isn't it :D

Suites are better

I know the guy who designed the Qantas interiors, Marc Newson, I'll pass on your comments. They do kind of back up my own point of view :D

I can't seem them wearing in very well either. After a few hundred trips of fidgeting passengers those seats are going to look like wonky wrecked pieces of shit full of crumbs n shit in the creases ew.

Is he that typical designer who thinks only about 'the look' rather than the practical function of what it is he or she is designing?

Nah he's been doing Qantas's seats for donks and they are actually very comfortable. This lot do look shite though and when SQ and EK are doing private suites with doors and personal mini-bars etc. in first class, QF has come up with, well pretty much exactly the same as they have on the 747. Tis a bit pants really.

Marc gets 12 first class round trips on Qantas, free, each year.

In all fairness to the guy designing the Quantas one he's probally been told x number of passengers per square footage and its signifcantly higher that what SA have decided on.

Tosh

The seat configuration would be similar for cattle class (ie. 3 4 3), so why has he chosen to give the cattle bogey coloured seats?

I've just found this comment on another website

It looks awful.
The cabin designer must have been smoking or injecting something illegal.
I can just see all the "cheap charlies" having a field day at the self service F & B bar, though I do like the idea of self service.

From what I understand Qantas bosses gave him a brief of what they wanted, rather than just a blank cabin.

If it was up to me I'd have monkey waiters

I'm sure an economy seat can be sorted for you :p

No, if I'm to fully appreciate his work, I'll have to start from the bottom up

Economy Seats (first hour)
Premium Economy (second hour)
Business Class (next two hours)
First Class (next hour or so)
Cabins or whatever the top top class is with the double bed with rose petals (rest of flight)

A380 Quiet?

This one must have had a broken exhaust . . .
uhhh, that's the traffic noise that you're hearing, not the noise of the distant aircraft.

I spotted one on a test flight some months ago. The big fat cabin makes it look strangely like a child's toy plane. If you're several miles away, that is :D

The Emirates A380 is not the first to serve London. Singapore has been flying them to London for a while, and Qantas will start soon.

As for the quietness of it, apparently Emirates was unique in placing the crew rest area at the back of the plane right behind cattle class. Pilots from other airlines have not had this 'problem'.

I've also heard that in order to account for the 1 ton of water being carried for the first class showers of the A380, Emirates does not provide any in-flight magazines or literature whatsoever- though it is all available on electronic form on the screen.

Either way I can't wait to fly this bird. Even in economy the experience is supposed to be a lot better than the same class on the same airline on different planes.
