The fact the legs are tiny spindles compared to the hulking great runners and lovely varnished table top is an issue - there's a bit of wobble if you give it a wobble; if you need to shag your secretary, i reccommend using the bed, call me a traditionalist, but you don't want to get stung with one of those Claims Direct workplace injury suits.

Post script: the mrs was very angry when she got home and told me to get rid of it. I have refused so far but i am scared she will burn it in the night, so i'm sleeping under it. I'm scared she will burn it anyway. She hates the DI Wino

Maybe you can sell it to some urbanites if she's really implacable.

Well, well done and everything, and the top is nice, but it is quite ugly for a bedroom. yer missus is right.

Perhaps you could varnish the legs, or paint them, or cover them with a table skirt or summat.

...I'm looking out for some different legs actually, and might have a go with my dads sanding machine.

Generally i prefer sanded but untreated wood.
