DiCanio has turned into the kind of twat who deserves a good kicking.
Weren't there an isolated few passages in his book bemoaning the fact that white Italians were threatened in some way by racial intermingling. Apparently, when asked about these words by a Guardian journo, he pretended he couldn't understand the question, the first time his English let him down unsurprisingly.

in the tv footage the crowd he salutes to had a red flag with the white circle background to a black circle cross in it which I presumed was some sort of facist symbol and therefore, his its ancient roman was him coming up with feeble piss taking excuse

Dave - I think maybe you just don't really understand the political situation in Italy. It was the first ever fascist country - not very long ago. A lot of people are still fascists (and more are highly anti-fascist). Parties calling themselves "post-fascist" get about 10% of the vote, and are in the coalition government. Lazio has a strong fascist and neo-Nazi following. Di Canio is lying so as not to get into trouble. You don't do a fascist salute in Italy and try to say "oh it's not fascist, it's Ancient Rome"kained&unable said:

Kidda im not on a wind up. Sorry but i consider spitting at people very very low and diouf has been it far to often for my liking. I also think that words/gestures are a lot less harful then any physical contact(not always the case i know but i think it stands for this example) so im always likely to say that anything physical(even spittle) is worse then most things non. If someone is prepared to provide links/resources on italy and italian politics i will read and consider revising my opinion, but that little paragarpgh hasn't really changed a lot.

if you only talk or hang around with people you agree with then you must have a closed social group. I have no problems hanging around with people with different politics then me same as music, football team or any other subject. The only condiiton I care about is are they sound. If yes then i will cope with the bad parts of them if no then they can fuck off.
And yes i don't know everything regarding either facism or italian politics and would never try to claim i knew a lot. What i do know is that i think paulo is sound. So am prepared to belive him when he says he isn't a racist and was doing the salute for other reasons.
Not wanting to use the he has balck friends so he sin't racist type angle but turam seemed to accept his explanation and he was close with hislops family and i know he still tlaks to trevor sincalir on a regular basis(or did up untill the summer at the very least) which is not the actions of a full blown kill all the black men racist.
