Dexter

Quite enjoyed that opener. Not sure Hall is a particularly great actor, but it suits this role. Script seems to be the right mix of witty, interesting and macabre.

I loved this last year.... The books are fab too.

New series due on FX soon I think.

His sister is a pain in the arse, I dont think she can act for toffee. She looks like she is going to cry/vomit in every scene.

I might give it another go. I watched about 6 episodes last summer and thought that they were OK, but it didn't grab me that much.

I think that was because I was in the middle of devouring seasons 1-4 of the wire, but I don't have that particular addiction to deal with any more.

I've been following this on ITV, it's pretty good but Jesus H Christ, is his sister the most annoying person in the world or what?

His Mother yes, Can't remember about his father as it's been a while since I watched

this is the only thing other than moto gp that i watch on the tv....absolutly love it...so many strands to it, i must read the book...darkly dreaming i think its called.

Dexter just has so many hats!!

last week when he got pulled in by the feds and handed the slides and we all thought he'd been caUGHT AND IT TURNED OUT THAT THEY SUSPECTED THE OTHER GUY:eek:....GREAT SHOW

I like it but I have some reservations

I don't want to put a spoiler here so will suffice to say that somewhere in the middle of the 1st series a major clue is presented to Dexter and I spotted it immediately and I'm sure other people did too, it was a very obvious thing for anyone who knows about how death affects the mammalian body, and yet Dexter didn't twig for ages and he's a blood spatter analyst.

I don't really think that the premise of Dexter's psychopathology is credible either. He seems to be too well functioning and to have too well developed impulse control to have an anti-social / sociopathic personality disorder. He seems to struggle with his lack of affect and inability to form relationships (something his adoptive father taught him to hide) yet he is loyal to his gf and he lacks the tendency to control others that is a feature of sociopathic killers.

Still enjoyable though, just have to suspend disbelief.

Can you use the spoiler code or PM me cos i wanna know what this is and have already seen the 1st series without spotting it.

OK

SPOILER FOLLOWS:
(in white text)

When they keep finding bits and pieces amputated from a kidnap victim, they assume the man is dead. Which is ridiculous given that there was blood staining / spatter surrounding a body part found days later to the first par they found. You don't get blood spatter from dead people so it's obvious that the victim is till alive. As soon as they found the body part with the (was it a pool of blood underneath? can't remember exactly) but I jumped out of my chair and said "of course, he's still alive!" and my friend agreed. It took Dexter hours for the penny to drop and he's a blood spatter analyst.

also I had the person ID'd as the ice truck killer before we saw him at his PC with his dolly. I was arguing with my friend that it wasn't him as it would be too obvious a plot line but I was wrong

I started watching this with high hopes and quite enjoyed the first few episodes, but lost interest really quickly and can't be arsed with it anymore. They leapt straight into the main story arc (ice truck killer) without establishing the characters properly, which made it hard for me to give a shit about anyone or anything that happened.

guessed when he started getting over enthusiastic about making false limbs and wanted to cast the sisters legs

just watched last weeks - the ice truck killer deliberetly killed Dexter's real dad so they'd have an excuse to meet:eek::eek:

I've just watched the first 12 episodes in the last couple of weeks and I love the series. I love Dexter too, he's great. A bit like Ripley in that you want him to win and are always on his side.

I'm confused about series though  have I seen all there is to see so far on English tele?

I really am looking forward to more.

last episode shown on ITV (end of series one afaik) had Dexter discovering the truth about the the ice truck killer & his family
eta: amazon says 12 episodes

eta2: is series two online yet? I wanna know how the fuck they're going to follow that

Season 2 is online and complete. Has been for quite a while now. Season one was indeed 12 episodes
