Devilishly simple way to cut a load of cherry tomatoes

I would argue that the time spent getting the two plates out and then washing them would negate the time saved.

Perhaps if you were cutting up a LOT of cherry tomatoes it maybe be a time saver.

The plates could be used to serve the tomatoes. In any case they would simply require a quick rinse.

Now that is ace! I always use a whole bulb when I'm adding garlic to stuff, and it really is a pain in the arse to peel each clove one by one.

*awaits Badgers to come along and find fault with this time-saving tip too. :D

I use a garlic crush at home so never bother with the peeling unless I need whole cloves in cooking.

The system they use there is sound but not quite as foolproof as they say. Usually a chef would prepare the garlic for chopping/pasting by crushing each clove with the flat of the knife then removing the skin. This method of crushing a whole bulb would not 100% remove the skin from every clove I feel. Again it would depend how fresh the garlic was as to the results.

Those are fucking big bowls too. Perhaps a useful method for larger scale preparation of garlic, but for the normal residential kitchen it would be like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

You've lived up to my expectations! :D

I've got two big steel mixing bowls, so it wouldn't be a bother for me to use that method given I use a whole bulb each time. :p
