The first one I could find - not listened to it so can't comment on the quality of the mixing, but can't fault the tracklisting

I'm enjoying this. Never really clocked what Detroit techno was all about, though I do have 'Landcruising' (doesn't everyone?).

Any other good places to start?

i picked up 'final frontier' on vinyl the other week.
Cor. Can remember playing that out many years back through a great system. Sounded so good. Love the b side too- the really minimal beaty one.

i saw galaxy to galaxy at the weekend - the second track they played was final frontier - which they mixed krafwerk's 'numbers' into for about 10 minutes. was majorly

Shut Up! SHUT UP! SHUT UP! ;)

I was given a "different kinds of dance music" primer last weekend - and cooly enough, detroit techno was what I liked best - could have listened for hours (whereas some other things I wanted switched off after 15 seconds  ). I'm not implying it's techno for beginners, btw - rather that I obviously have excellent and refined tastes.

That's quite evidently the case! :)

there was a place on my sofa for you afterwards orang. you'd have found the money if you'd cared...
I would have had to rob an old lady and I don't think Mike Banks would have approved of that :(

true... i was dissapointed with 'mad' mike banks - he seemed far too sensible. not a fright wig or whoopee cushion in sight!

i had this image of mad mike being the office joker at submerge - a sort of david brent meets malcolm x figure.

sadly, i was wrong. :(

Ok then,I'm ready to open my ears and my mind.

i will download some of the stuff posted on here and give it my honest opinion.

Final Frontier is amazing.

It's proper  when the strings come in.

got lost in that track in a cloud of dry ice a few times

the vision - 'message to the majors' as well, class ;)

oh and 'red planet#2'

i voted 'ACE' but i do like my acid techno as well :p

some detroit techno is amazing, but i'm not a purist in any way-
any good techno does it for me, not that there's much of it around these days...

hhmm, not the sort of thing I'd want to go out and dance to,but I'm quite happy listening to it. It's a bit funky and soulfull for me,I prefer it hard as fuck and dirty.
