no thats not right at all.

should really smooth mellow sounds.
Dono why it's doing this, also downloaded some (not detroit techno) off squatjuice, which came out the same, but I assumed that it was experimental with bleeps and blips.

I love all types of techno too, Detroit, Acid, London,.... :) :)
Banging for dancing and more mellow for listening to at home.

I once wen't to a Jeff Mills concert with a not very nice Spanish Girlfriend, we Q'd for an hour, but they only let her in, she said, go to another club, I'll meet you at 3 . Well it was Jeff Mills, so fair enough like.

New Carl Craig mix on Beats In Space here:

That radio show is the nuts - lots of eclectic 'dance' music - not much Detroit apart from the Craig mix - there's even a Crass track one show!

Everyone speaks about UR, Hood, Mills and the Belleville Three, but for me the don is Carl Craig

Have you heard his 'The Album Formerly Known As...'?

'94s not quite as good as it should have been album Landcruising completely rerecorded, dumping the dubious 'journey' concept and those fucking awful prog-rock guitar solos that destroyed the first couple of tracks and taking it towards a more back-to-basics techno/electro sound.

Fucking great :)

Oh man, that tune *gets goosebumps at the thought of it* I remember when it first came out back in the blissful summer of 94... absolutely fucking incredible hynposis equipment imo. And still with the funk (though cyberfunk in this instance, of course ;) )

Not heard it yet - must get me to a record shop - there's some new Designer Music stuff out too apparently and I hear he has just done a stellar remix of Theo Parrish's Falling Up.
He is the best remixer I can think of - my fave is his Drums Suck mix of Dave Angel's Airborne

My fave is probably his mix of BT's Relativity - one of the first Detroit tracks I heard - totally lush and still sounding fresh after about 12 years.

Fucking great stuff. Drexciya in particular.
A word too for fake Detroit techno like B12 and some of the early djax stuff. Thought they were from detroit for years.

They'd have to form a queue behind the PWEI fans. The music forum is a dangerous place to be these days.

They'd still be purist tossers though, killing me wouldn't change anything.

i picked up 'final frontier' on vinyl the other week.

tis truly awesome...

the good thing about detroit (imo) is that it's sounded pretty much the same for 15 years, but the new stuff doesn't sound jaded or by numbers. it may be to a formula, but what a formula! :)

I really love the sound and accumulated loads of great vinyl singles over the years, several of which have been mentioned above. However, I haven't come across any good detroit albums for the last few years -

Anyone got any recommendations?

These are amazing, but are a few years old now ...

Aril Brikha - Deeparture in time
Vince Watson - Moments in time
ooh - I can feel an Amazon mini-binge approaching

In looking for these I discovered :-

albums....

the suburban night album 'my sol dark direction' is pretty solid.

and the secret cinema album from about 2-3 years ago is amazing (not from detroit, but sounds in the same region)

techno ain't really an album kind of music though, is it?
