I found that last one hilarious for some reason, but found the blank money unbearable :|
How the hell does a jeweller not look at the 4g's in CASH (supposedly) given by a customer?

The streetwise street vendor didn't get caught did he? :D He obviously has to stay on his toes and be aware of rip of merchants all the time whereas the cushioned jeweller would never even dream that someone was going to try that and got completely caught by DB's diversionary tactics.

Loved and hated the dummy sequence and although they said the victim had left exhilirated and happy we never saw him did we? I've got visions of that poor bloke in torment still.

Not seen the latest series but always enjoy his stuff.

Agree with Agent Sparrow. I think that he conciously does what many who believe themselves to be pyschic do unconciously.

Ever since I saw him trying his "charms" on some strippers, I have loathed him.

Why do you care who he chats up?

maybe there's a place where they secretly dump and cover up all the people who never recover from derren's mentalism.

It's called The Village, number six!

I assume that if Derren hypnotised you to have sex with him that would count as rape. Would be an odd court case though.

And not that I'm saying he would do such a thing!

I'm quite sure that every one of the people in this current series are going to choose the trick card, as he can obviously lead them into choosing whatever card he wants them to. It wouldn't be very entertaining watching people get a treat would it?

both cards say "trick" - it depends which way up they are held.

I hadn't noticed that although was aware that the text used is very unusual. I've taped last night's episode, will need to pause it and then stand on my head and see if you are right! :D

Could anyone who's seen that picture please post it (via imageshack or somewhere)? if you looked at it, it's likely still in your browser cache.

Dummy says
I have dreams
Frightening screams
I have dreams

Dummy says
It's too late
Big mistake
It's too late

The circus left without me
And I'm alone with you now

Dummy says
Stay with me
Talk to me
Stay with me

Dummy says
Holiday
Come and play
Holiday

Big top
Carousel
Cotton candy

Where am I?

Fun house
Acrobat
Fortune teller

All of me, all fades away

Dummy says
My dear friend
Here you stand
My right hand

Dummy says
'Til the end
My dear friend
My right hand

Surely he'd hypnotise you to forget...

Utter twunt.

that was on one of his first shows, wasn't it?

i seem to remember him "reading their minds" to find out the best chat up line they had ever heard.

was pretty impressive.

Do you reckon he went back to those shops in New York where he had managed to mis-direct their attention so they accepted blank pieces of paper instead of cash, and give them either the goods or proper cash? Or would that have been too risky?
Rest of that show on Friday was very very dark...

I think he would've returned the goods, besides the production crew would've had to go back and get those retailer's to sign a release form for using them in the show.

Though, legally speaking, I'm not sure whether he was actually breaking the law or not. They did willingly accept the blank notes as legal tender didn't they?

I watched that with my mum. She noted that Derren hadn't really focused on teaching that woman the rules, just on how to spot a bluff. In effect he was encouraging her to focus entirely on the other players without really thinking about her own hand. As a consequence, she was giving no signals or tells and was unreadable to the other players.

I was under the impression that you didn't need a release for people filmed in public. There's no way that all those yobs on Booze Britain and the like would sign their rights over.

As for the legality, I can't really imagine a court prosecuting that sort of thing - can you imagine the farce "So, your honour, I gave him the goods and he payed me in blank paper and told me it was real money!" "... and you accepted blank paper as money? ..."

Anyway, I also reckon he returned the stuff. It's just goodwill from the programme really.

has anyone seen the one in which the 'trick' that Brown pulls is making a woman think she's witnessing her own death by crashing her car and putting an actor in the car with a realistic mask of herself. Then the police and ambulance crew turn up and all ignore her as if they can't see her. It was well freaky of course but it seemed a bit cruel

That would be why they film from outside the shop.

I expect they go back afterwards and return the goods/pay a bit of thanks for playing money.
