Derren Brown - Evening Of Wonders

It's all about the theatre - aside from the magic he's a good comedian / frontman / whatever isn't he?

I sense that you - yes, YOU - have read 'Tricks Of The Mind.'

I like the way he makes the simplest card trick that you learn as a kid seem much cleverer. I fooled a five year old with it the other day. Yes I did.

d. he's just lucky.

In that card trick (if you haven't read the book) he exploits luck - it's all about probability, passing a pack of cards round a group of people before you do the trick and choosing the one who's shittest at shuffling to shuffle during the trick.

He's still a Jedi though.

when did he stop being a loathsome smug bastard with a face you want to stave in and start being an entertaining showman?

The Gorilla one was really easy to work out (with a PVR ;) )

But loads of it has me pleasantly baffled.

Great show. I saw him live a few years back, and it was bloody great. Love all the showmanship. It brings the old dusty magic profession back to life.

Moomoo-it's all an illussion, big trick, he even admits so himself! No point wrecking your head over it because that's the nature of magic! :)

Bit disappointed that his finale was describing the girl he picked himself from the audience

Loved the first half - especially the bit over the phone.

Yeah, I like all that, too. I'd love to go to one of his shows.

The bit at the end has just killed my brain forever. :D

He did something with a similar feel at the show I saw. Very fast paced, pulling info out about successive members of the audience. I think I had a reasonable guess at how he did it, but it was still mesmerising.

e2a: or did you mean the roll of paper thing?
