Depressed about career progression - chose me another career!

...still, CBT is maybe something you could get into as well, maybe an optional course or something you could do yourself?
Well, my first job was doing CBT based therapy in a psych hospital, and the second one had elements of that, so I already know the basics. And the doctorate will cover a lot of CBT, in fact while I was careful to select courses which will let me begin to explore psychoanalytic techniques I think that pretty much all of the Clinical doctorate courses have a strong emphasis on CBT.

<edit> I'd like to learn more about CBT and get formally qualified but I don't just want to have those skills to use, as I think CBT is often a very good first step for a lot of people but can only go so far. <end edit>

Got an email from my mum who says well done but was slightly amused to read this (and I wasn't worrying about not succeeding)

I do hope it goes well but if not maybe life means you to go another route where you would be even happier.
Thanks for the vote of confidence mum! Obviously this is where my all self doubt comes from. ;)

Now I'm telling myself that if I don't succeed at interview at least this is a progression to when I applied two years ago and got no interviews, and I'd definately apply again.

Anyway, better get on with work while I still need references. ;) :D

Wot others have said - DON'T give up on clinical psychology if it's what you really want!!! :)

I know a bloke loads older than you who got into it in his mid-30s after having done an english degree and then worked as a policy officer for a charity. He then did a psych degree (pt) + MSc.

Follow your dreams! :)

Edited to say - gosh, just read that you've got an interview - congrats! And Good Luck. :)

One of my colleagues has two psychology degrees.. she can't work as a psychologist in the UK though because her degrees are australian.

Bonkers.

I often say I'd run an adult baby nursery if I were single, I dunno why but I think I have the aptitude for it.. I've already worked out the finer details with my friend (would-be client!) with regards to how much to charge for soiled nappies!
