denim 'suits'

We need pics. I can't think of any instance where double denim would be ok but I am open to the possibility if someone can show me?

See, that looks shit to me, cos they're trying to be glam

I guess I always think of denim as not-glam. As hard-working, hard-wearing. For People Who Mean Business. Not a couple of tossers, like

For blokes, all denim plus:

Long hair, clean shaven: 1970s football hooligan
Long hair, beard or 'tache: biker, CB radio enthusiast
Short hair, clean shaven: skinhead, remand prisoner
Short hair, 'tache: clone

you've been sussed dodge. :(

I'm not saying nothing. But (a) I bet that's a can of Cresta in your hand and (b) you kicked it along the road just to make a racket afterwards (no one does that any more!)

I do. If I'm on my own. If im with company they look at me all frowny

i reckon, two secs after that pic was taken, i smashed that can of cresta in my mate's head because she stole my boyfriend.

or because she's wearing braces.

both crimes fit the punishment imo.

I like a double denim combo but only if the denims don't match; stonewash with indigo or something.

The most acceptable jacket to wear with jeans is a black Dickies utility jacket, though :) (or a cheap rip-off from TKMaxx or something)

not even

?

Coincidentally, The Rockingbirds' Patrick Arbuthnot is the last person I can remember seeing in real life (-on a tube train) who was rocking the double denim with any real style.

Admittedly that was about 15 years ago, but it's ...er... 'a timeless look'. Or something. :hmm: :D

See I don't mind what they call 'double denim' but it can look a bit 80's if you're not careful.

Nope, double denim reached its peak in the early-mid 70s IME. Horrible time! :(

Yup, this is about what the look says to me. You will also need the obligatory sword or baseball bat stuffed down the front of your flares.

Also going to need to dance with your thumbs hooked in your belt/front pocket. Which was the fashion at the time.

Nope, Dickies & similar were either proper workwear or the highest of high-poseurism in those days.

And that, ladies and germs, has to be the ONLY time Patrick has ever been cited as a reference point in a sartorial matter :D :D

Yeah, it's hard for me to believe it myself. :D

Maybe I was just feeling a bit 'fragile' that afternoon... :o

Actually, I thought he'd sort of spoilt it a bit by wearing a red 'n' white gingham shirt with it though. :(

ok, on a related note: if i'm wearing skinny dark blue jeans with a white shirt, black skinny tie and black shoes, what jacket should i wear?

I don't know about what jacket you should wear but I never think that black shoes look right with jeans, is it just me
Sorry to make this thread even more confusing.

depends what the jeans are like tbh - faded baggy or straight leg jeans would be a massive no-no with shoes, but they look great with skinnys...
