Definitely Maybe is the best album ever

an uncle of mine was invited to join oasis once, but he turned them down on a matter of principle.

the principle being, that he liked good music.

I cant be doing with Oasis, they are like some sort of weird Beatles Karaoke act, who the fuck do they think they are fooling with their contrived sound and chord theft.

Apart from the music Noel is an arrogent wanker who loves to go on about how great Oasis are and Liam is a fuckin Prick who thinks he's got something of the punk in him, fuck off, fuck right off.

Definitely Maybe is a vile piece of retro shit that set music back a decade.

bandwagonesque was out long before definitely maybe.

definitely maybe was a good, bordering very good album that was overplayed to death

OI!!!

You leave Teenage Fanclub alone....

I remember hearing Definitely Maybe for the first time and thinking it sounded like someone putting shelves up next door

I wouldn't go that far - I've never heard it though.
I've heard a few Oasis singles and they are indeed retro shite but how does that set back music a decade?

because in their wake there was a whole flood of equally backwards-looking, joyless indie-crossover twonks who clogged up the music scene for a long time (and still do - Embrace etc).

Hmm, never affected me, nobody made me listen to that - I just carried on listening to the good music that was about.
There's always been copyists in everyseen

but in a sense - and don't take this the wrong way - it kind of invalidates your point to say you didn't notice it, or were affected by it. Just because you didn't see it - because you were listening to repetitive bleepy stuff ;) - doesn't mean it didn't do what i said it did, ie legitimise a shitload of backwards looking, Beatles worshipping plodding shit

I dunno - the music scene's always been full of shit hasn't it? It's more fun to root out the gems, than to have them handed to you on a plate - oops that's a bit of a metaphor salad innit?
And for the record, I don't like rooting around in shit for real.

It's all a bit subjective really. To someone it's the greatest album ever, who is anyone to try and take that away; just be happy for them is all I say?

yes, and what a brilliant music forum it would be.

"Band X has a new album out".

"Although I don't like them, I'm happy for their fans"

the end.

Bollocks! far too reasonable! :p

I was expecting an article on the Rolling Stones or Pink Floyd, but Oasis...please.

Amusing at best.
