Decent low-budget horror films

A Tale of Two Sisters? My Little Eye? I suppose they're both fairly well-known films though.

I suppose there's always Jan Svankmajer's films, which I've always found bloody terrifying (especially his version of Alice in Wonderland) but aren't all that well known as mainstream horror films.

Surely a ghost story is a horror? Some of the best horrors are ghost stories eg The Haunting

Ah - but this is deep and genuinely haunting, rather than jump out of your seat stuff. In fact the film will stay with you for weeks after you watch it - it's THAT good. One of my favourite Asian films. It's also, interestingly, the biggest-ever grossing film at the cinema in Thailand. So I don't know how 'low budget' it counts as. It's probably quite big budget by Thai standards...

Have you watched The Last Man on Earth?

It's the 60s Vincent Price version of I Am Legend - someone posted, on a previous thread, a link to some online archive where it was available

It can seem a bit dated, but is a genuinely good film.

It's actually meant to have been what inspired Romaro in making Night of the Living Dead.

Bit hit and miss but pisses all over the latest remake of I am Legend.
