Decent curry in Angel/islington

Actually, I had one on Brick Lane that was okay. But other places on Brick Lane I've tried weren't so good. And that Khan's in Bayswater ain't brilliant either, it's mediocre in comparison to the best of what Manchester's curry mile has to offer.

Brick Lane is strictly for the tourists, if you want proper South Asian food go to the small, local places that the Asian communities frequent.

Aye, I've been a regular at Mirch since the first one opened in Norbury. Theres also another branch in Southall now i believe.

I seriously doubt you have ever been; soy sauce and monosodium glutimate are as alien to that sort of food as they are to fish and chips and in my numerous visits I have, unsurprisingly, never seen either

I need to find somewhere to eat curry in Angel or possibly wider Islington area by Friday and I'm stumped - any recommendations?

sod brick lane & tayyabs - the lahore kebab house is probably the best curry I've ever eaten, maybe had a better one in a portakabin in bradford, maybe - beautifully cooked meat, cheap as fuck, basic interior, B.Y.O booze - it is delicious & a great great place for a meal

Why don't you head for the Turkish place, on Upper Street(?), the food there's lovely.

I can recommend Gem up the Highbury and Islington end of Upper Street.

Best food on Upper St is Turkish imo. Even the kebab shop up near H&I sells actual proper lamb doner
