Dead Mans Shoes

Watched a bit of this last night...

Opens the suitcase and Tough is inside folded up,dead.

"Wanna give him a kiss?" :D

Fucking ace

I saw it last night for the first time. It was quite good but I thought the ending let it down a little bit, you could see it coming from a way off. Apart from that though I liked it. A Derbyshire City of God.

Just finished it. Very good, I thought. A couple of minor quibbles, though:

The 'brother is actually dead' twist is quite evident from the start (indeed I guessed it almost immediately) and is slightly hackneyed - used in quite a lot of recent Hollywood films like Fight Club and the Machinist.

Also, I thought the final moments, of making the last baddie kill him, reminded me of the closure of Seven a little.

Still, very good for a British film, and amazingly put together for something that was quite clearly made for about 5p.

It's unbelievable how hard americans find it to understand british accents... i didn't think the accents in this film were that strong, i mean it's not Rab C Nesbitt difficult, yet all the reviews say they are 'unintelligible'...

Another minor issue with the film: When he spikes the guys' drinks, he appears to pour in a load of crushed up powders. Surely if they took in that amount, a. they would be able to taste it and b. it would probably be enough to kill them without him needing to - or at very least badly overdose?

Clearly they are tripping though, so I think the director got his drugs mixed up a bit in this bit. I have had tea with speed mixed in before, the first time I did speed in India, and it tasted vile. There's no way I could have not noticed...

I thought that as well, surely they would have tasted it?

still, didn't detract from the fact that it's a very good film, very sad too, I really didn't think his brother might have been dead until I actually saw it...

Because the film was sort of gritty and British, it didn't occur to me, I kept thinking that he was overreacting a bit, because his bro was not dead, and was trying to work out what horrible things they must have done to him to warrant such a reaction.

turns out this is my 10,000th post. hurray...

I thought it was meant to be acid which would probably not notice tastewise too much but I'm not sure what boiling would do to its strength.

Sorry to be a party pooper but I thought it was a pretty average film. Maybe I was looking forward to it with too greater expectation.
