DAYDREAM NATION AND SPIDERLAND LIVE!
In August 2005, ATP introduced a new season in London called "Don't Look Back" inviting artists to present a retrospective of one of their works in its entirety. We kicked off the season with The Stooges performing Fun House from start to finish in one amazing show at the Hammersmith Apollo that saw grown men cry. The season finale was the inimitable Dirty Three (with special guest pianist, Nick Cave) performing the stunningly beautiful Ocean Songs at The Barbican.

Since then, we have seen seminal albums performed including Bandwagonesque by Teenage Fanclub who stirred up a melting crowd at The Forum, Tindersticks playing the exquisite Tindersticks II at The Barbican and Ennio Morricone proving why he is The Maestro as he lead 200 musicians through his classic film scores at the Hammersmith Apollo.

Don't Look Back Concerts is proud to announce the first dates for our 2007 season.

"When I first heard Daydream Nation - I thought 'what is this music...?' It was raw, abrasive and reminded me of the Stooges and the Velvets. But nothing else sounded quite like it and it quickly took over to become one of my favourite records ever! From the gatefold sleeve to the heavy vinyl this was a lush piece of art that you took home and cherished. This was a time when CDs were alien to the kids and a few years later Slint released Spiderland. In a way their masterpiece inspired me to start the Don't Look Back season. I would think "how do I get to see all of these songs live?" - I was obsessed. I would check the credits and even look at the run out grooves and long for them to play every last track live, so we are really honoured to kick off the season with these legendary albums and also continue the series with the faithful genius that is the House of Love performing their first LP they did for Creation."

I just saw this when I went on the ATP site to check the voting for the May fesitval. I'm so glad I got Sonic Youth tickets I've wanted to see them for ages.

- think I walked away!
Well I walked out of the Slint gig at the Forum in 2005. First time I've ever done that.
I didn't really know them then though, though I was promised that they'd be good.

Well they definately weren't worse than Sonic Youth at ATP 2000 - FACT! :p

to qualify, i suppose they weren't actually dreadful at the Forum.

Dull, workmanlike, pompous, uninterested, yes. But very 'competent'.

Got a ticket for sonic youth, cheers for the heads up. There'll be less chance of them disappearing up their own backsides at this one.

Can someone remind me I've got to go and see this next august then? :o

Really torn about the Slint one. I'd love to see them do Good Morning Captain live but is it worth £22 plus bf? Did they do it at Forum or ATP?

Same with me, I like Spiderland but I'd probably mainly be going for Good Morning Captain so for me I don't really think it's worth it especailly as I'm going to Daydream Nation

I should probably start listening to 'Spiderland' as they are performing it at Prima this year, along with the Melvins doing 'Houdini'. Slint are one of those bands that everyone goes on about so much as a seminal, important blah blah blah that I can't help but think I'm likely to be disappointed.

Slint must have played every track off Spiderland at ATP the other year.

As it's one of my favourite albums ever I did enjoy it but it was ultimately a dissapointing affair. All their tracks were note for note reproductions of the album versions - but obviously louder than I had previously heard them which was kind of cool. I think I'll give it a miss this time round.

Sonic Youth playing Daydream Nation though? Back of the fuckin' net.

We're going to be in Ireland with any luck at Electric Picnic so i'm not going to risk buying tickets - can't afford to shell out for them now even though i know i'll be able to sell them

despite being skint and very fucking festy-busy, i'm now thinking i have to go to the 2nd weekend. the first is great but all the people i HAVE to see i've seen recently.

the 2nd weekend - if i was booking a festival, i'd have had mogwai sparklehose and shellac headlining anyway

but chalets seling out fast :(

Yeah, the line-up is shaping up rather nicely it has to be said. I know Bluestreak is looking for peeps to get a chalet with if you need numbers made up ...
