David Bentley

So (for a moment) put yourself in Wengers shoes.

You have an arrogant dickhead 18 year old who thinks he should be in front of Dennis Bergkamp and Robert Pires, what would you do??

In NO WHY is he better then either even now....

Still the Boss has some words on this matter...

That's basically my philosophy in Football Manager. I'm in 2015/16 season with Newcastle United and have about 15 youngters on loan at other clubs. I much prefer deveolping the kids but they won't all get into my first team.

FFS Are you suggesting that Wenger is not a good authority? He creates teams which are universally loved because they play so beautifully. Also he has had some constraints on funds, so one might argue that he has done amazingly with this considered.
Wenger knows very well - his pre-occupation, imo - is that he won't 'go down in history' as a "great manager" unless/until he proves it on the biggest club stage.

People will talk about him though the decades but, 30 years from now, everything we think and say about the quality of the football, the 49 games, the talent he unearthed will be irrelevant; supporters not yet born will ask what did he win? And people like us on message boards will say he won nothing in Europe so how could he be a great?

Wenger is very well aware of this: At the moment, history will say he's no Cloughie, he's no Jock Stein and he's no Bob Paisley but, yeah, he won a few domestic trophies playing nice football.

The only people talking about Wenger being "great" are non Arsenal.

Whatever, all I know is he's the greatest we've had so far, personally I'm happy that he's given us a couple of doubles and FA cups plus a perminant place in the top four.

You Spuds would kill for that (and some of you do).

Yeah we keep hearing about how Spurz are going to replace Arsenal in the top 4 don't we? Season after season.

From the media stirrers yes but not IMO from the majority of Spurs fans, apart from season before last when Spurs very nearly did.

The only people talking about Wenger being "great" are non Arsenal.

So do you not think he's a great manager then? I do.

Spurs yet again have the opportunity to make a strong decision and they bottle it. One of the reasons why they will most likely remain top ten only.

How do you know Spurs were even interested in him or that if we were it was our decision not to complete his transfer, could be a million reasons, one of the strongest being linked to his agent and his "planning to retire early" financial plan.

Tottenham seem unable to take a risky decision, they are always trying to go safe.

Rebrov!

out of interest (I presume you're a Gooner) who have you taken a risky decision on then?

So do you not think he's a great manager then? I do.

Not in the same way that SAF is no (and I think your fellow Spuds were intimating that).

But in the terms of The Arsenal...He's the greatest.

He's elevated us to a world club with a vast international support, I suppose in those terms he could be regarded as great (outside of the club).

I dont care, I just love watching them, and that's down to him and him alone.
