Dates, meh, have prunes instead.

They don't make your mouth so dry and they keep you regular.

Date bread is particularly grim.

I love dates - they are totally lush

Not the ones coated in sugar you get in boxes but good organic dried ones, particularly the Medjool.

Fresh dates are wonderful when they come straight from the tree, the so called fresh ones you can get in London never seem to properly ripen

Those little boxes of dates are horrible, they're enough to put anyone off.

I think there's a shop on Regent Street in London called Bateel, a branch of a Middle Eastern store. They sell lovely Belgian style chocolates but also dates. The dates are totally unlike any of the nasty little horribly dessicated dried up dates you've eaten before. And they also do so little biscuits and cakes.
