daniel johnston

less than that...it's gonna be intimate!

the original plan was that he was going to do a semi-private party at an art museum or osmething like that but it turned out they didn't have a P.E..L.
We already had Jake Bellows playing the Windmill and since they're mates and Jake is also supporting him the night before at Union Chapel, Daniel asked could we rearrange the bill.
Am fucking well excited about this as it comes hot on the heels of a Jeffrey Lewis show. I think weird Americans like the weirdness of the Windmill!

He was on great form
He was supposed to do an interview with a guy from the Times at 6pm but he'd been comic shopping all day and "needed some sleep". The journalist saw me about 12.30 and reminded me about the interview so I brought him into that room and he started the interview but Daniel aparently kept inviting people in and when I went into check on things an hour later and there were about 30 people in there doing a question and answer session with the tape still running. The Times guy said it was the most surreal interview he'd ever done...I REALLY want to read it.

What do people here think the best Daniel Johnston song is? I've got a soft spot for Blue Clouds and Honey I Still Miss You ;)

the tricky thing with interviews and daniel , from my experience, is that he has lots and lots of pre-prepared answers - is hard to get him to talk about anything other than those. His stories can be fun though.....

I keep looking at The Times online and that interview doesn't seem to have run.
apparently a lot of his answers were "er, I don't know".:D

i actually missed the manchester show because my phone broke and so i missed the call reminding me of it. damn :(
