Re. the right back, I've heard Manchester City's Micah Richards mentioned who I thought looked like a superb prospect last season. Here's hoping.

I've heard that Spurs are after him - would be great to have him a the lane, but unfortunately he is a gooner - apparently he doesn't want to come to Spurs as he fears it would damage his chances of one day playing for the goons.

I heard we were in for richards for 9million! i think the poeple ran that a few days ago. lies lies lies and more lies.

Why, do you fancy a ground share in the capital?

You can't mean for footballing reasons...

:p

Duff is another sicknote and that is all too obvious, but he is a superb talent. I don't blame him for chasing the money (it's his last big pay day) and spurs couldn't match that.

That's got to the the biggest load of codswallop ever. We're the sort of club that has our hot young talents swiped off us, not the sort of club that goes round swiping them off other clubs.

It appears that Chelsea had larger offers from other clubs but decided to sell to NUFC. They obviously do not see them as a threat.

Apparently, they will never deal with Liverpool after we dumped them out of the semi finals in the CL.

pmsl....

:D

I'd rather Klose than Ashton, but really we need both.

The one thing that keep being repeated is £1 mil for Angel???? But hes shite?

Oh and th SWP loan deal is still on apparantly.

I'm not sure he speaks the native tongue of L'Arse though. And since when did footballers care about fandom? It's the size of the cheque which matters to them.

Duff and SWP would be a potent pair of wingers! Shame there's no strikers to score the goals! Deano Windass has another season in him!;)

haha

its a pleasure to know that we caused them such deep and meaningful pain.

suprised he turned down liverpool but he was probably swayed by the irish players at newcastle and the fact that he will play every week. too many players in each position at chelsea. think he would have done ok at Liverpool in an ever improving squad.

I relised something to day which explains why duff went to newcastle , Gonzalez is back at liverpool this season afther a year on loan an imho duff new he isnt better than said player . Makes sense to me .

Gonzalez will be the main left winger this season imo. Kewell is currently injured again and I won't be too disappointed if he doesn't come back in a hurry. Riise and Zenden are also left sided so it surprised me to hear that Liverpool were in for Duff.

The Toon have definitely got a bargain. I just hope the injury jinx on their star signings doesn't strike again.

As a chelsea man, I'm sad to see him go, but i do hate to see great players languishing on the bench for any team (somebody let shaun wright phillips play please). And as good as Duff is, he's a poor match for the greatest footballer alive:

That photo, why have they photoshopped it to make it seem as though his vertical as opposed to flailing horizontally towards the ground? I thought that was the only way he could lose contact with the turf.

Apparently a major sticking point was that Spurs were unwilling to budge and break their wage structure, which is incredibly conservative by current standards with King the top earner at a relatively "poultry" £50k a week. I somehow think he may have taking more dodgy roubles than that across town.
