Dalston Delights..

I've never been robbed, mugged or otherwise bothered at all.

I hope i'm not jinxing myself but I've lived in Dalston for 12 years and never had a problen, prior to living here I lived on the Pembury Estate in Clapton and never had a problem there either!

Also, agree with Marty - seems to be pretty ok for cheap places to eat and supermarket shopping but it seems if you want a 'proper' night out it seems best to go a bit further out or in - into town or whatever, you know what I mean :)

again, not wanting to jinx myself, but 16 years of hackney living, and i've never had a problem with wrong uns

Shoreditch is just down the road though.

Yeah - again - shoreditch is a place that i've never really bothered to get to know but I know that there are meant to be loads of good places to eat and stuff around - the other Saturday I eventually tried one of the Viet places - friends birthday - can't remember which one - it was great, cheap and great food!!

Can you not remember the name? Was it on Kingsland Road? I'm looking for a recommendation for a vietnamese place.

I'll check with my mate later on but yeah, was on Kingsland Road on the left hand side walking towards Shoreditch - he's been there before and said although it was good it wasn't the best in the area - My first time in a Vietnemese place and I thought it was good.

all the places on kingsland road are alright, they're all cheap and cheerful i've never thought one was much better than another

This is the best place on Kingsland Road - Song Que

Viet Hoa is alright, but there's another one across the road which has a yellow/orange facade and kinda looks like it'd be crap but is actually great too.

:)

that is the one i usually end up in just from habit. it is lively with people eating before nights out in shoreditch which some people might hate but i quite like it really if i am honest

i can confirm that dalston jazz bar is tremendous fun. it was like an old skool rave last nite znd i had the time of my life.

I used to work above there, it was entertaining to see the owner crashed out up against the windows as I got in at 9.30.

Slightly disconserting drinking in there, as opposite it is/was a park bench used by the dalston ace 59 crew on a drinking shift basis apparently.

Does it still double as a furnature outlet? (when we'd drink in there, we'd often have to get up as a sofa would be removed and another put in)

Jazz Bar

There is no reason to ever go anywhere else. I woke up at 4am today and thought where else could you go out now, for free and dance with strangers until 6am? Don't worry if you don't like Jazz...There is none. People always wake up with a selective memory of the music played but I can confirm that every week they do indeed play Shaggy, In the Summertime usually followed by Frank Sinatra. Not sold yet? Full cocktail menu and 700 different types of beer for you to choose from and an ever entertaining toilet queue when your bladder is full. In fact, plan ahead to avoid accidents. Don't be put off if there is long queue, with the glass doors it is a way to get to know everyone inside before you go in!
Go!

havent been in Dalston for a while, but this great little film really made me want to go and spend some time there, do some shopping etc

This would appear to be an ad for the wankily named Vibe. A hideous named block of all sold gaffs all upwards of half a mill.
Funnily enough they didnt show Ridley Road market there or actually give any idea of what dalstons actually like. Too many scuffers no doubt. C*nts.
