Cyclists: What colour is your bike?

i make that a half lap of herne hill velodrome :)

there used to be the odd day here and there when you could mess about with whatever bike you liked but they've not done one in ages. i can think of plenty of roads and parks in north london that would be suitable but i don't know if you have a visa? ;)

we've had some bob jacksons in recently, they are absolutely lovely. is it 653?

Tis indeed, I'm loving the marvel that is cyclescheme. That thing makes me grin like a loon every time I ride it. So much so, that I can't not ride it over the winter and have put some risers on it to cope with brixton traffic. The shame.

i did think those pista bars (steel?) looked a bit harsh. a mate gave me a gorgeous set very similar to the ones in your picture but i haven't had the balls to fit em yet, steel bars + winter = cold hands + aching joints, though i would have taped them up to the stem for riding in traffic. one of the guys i work with is a total bike tart but happens not to have a decent "around town" bike, he's currently speccing a jackson and paying particular attention to the custom paint options. i'll post a pic once he gets it, it's gonna be pretty silly. :D

Yeah, they're narrow Nittos (36s or 38's can't remember off the top of my head), which means there's almost no horizontal surface, as I went shopping based on the idea that it'd be used at Herne Hill more than on the road. I've not found 'em too cold yet, but I'm someone who wears two pairs of gloves. The 48x16 gearing on the road is a bit more of a problem, cos a brake and non machined sidewalls = squeeeeeek!

And you're mates probably right, all the bob's i've seen that are custom are in far better shape - mine's an off the peg frame & forks, and some of the lug lining was done with someone with a little bit of a shaky hand. But I couldn't face the waiting list, and they'd only just begun to sort out the cyclescheme at BJ.

48x16 gearing is a problem for 2 huge reasons:

1. it's huge! far too big for the road IMO, very slow off the lights, hard to brake control, very damaging to knees and ankles. do you warm up/down and stretch before and after every ride? with that kind of gear you really need to if you want to prevent injury.

2. 16 is a factor of 48, unless both legs are even you're probably skid/skip stopping with your best foot pulling the same way every time IYSWIM. this means huge tyre wear on one point.

i rode 48x16 for one day because they were the only components i had to hand, i bit the bullet and paid full retail for replacements that afternoon because i found it so horrible. i now ride 50x20 and am experienced enough to bring the rear wheel to a halt from almost any pedal position. :)

Haha, I knew that would bring out the nerd in you! Its got a flip flop with an 18 on the other side, which does make life easier, and I don't skid cos of an old ankle injury, but yes, its a slog - particularly as the other fixed is a spinny spinny little thing. I should splash out on a 46 / 47 tooth, but that'll have to wait until the new year when I've got some spare cash.

48x18 used to be my one of my favourite ratios. i might have to frame that phrase to put my nerdiness over 9000 :D

It's here! :D
It's mostly black, but with some brown bits
It doesn't have the double-action brake handles, that was just the one they had built when I tried it :(

Get this. My boss just told me "well, sorting out the deductions from your wage would be too much hassle, so consider this your xmas bonus"

Fucking WIN. I just got a £750 bike for fucking free. :D:D:D

I have a black bicycle. Its black with stainless steel components. But mainly black.
The lights are kind of white colour LED on the front & flashing Red on the back.

I've always fancied a neon tube framed bicycle (green, orange & yellow) that lights by power generated from your cycle stroke.

Yeh... woo. It would be the bestist bicycle in the town.
Oh yeh.. With a kick stand in grey.

black.

with a brown brookes saddle and chrome handlebars. dont have a photie of it on here and i cant find one online as it has no specific make (?)..but looks a bit like this:
